Williams On Another Poor Swans Performance

The Swans were beaten by Southampton yesterday afternoon on another day where the performance fell short of the standards that we have grown to expect from the team as well as taking the winless run to four games.

When the Swans returned from the international break on September 12th, we were a side in the top four places of the Premier League and on the back of a win over Man Utd at the Liberty. Just two weeks later and we have scored one goal in four games and dropped down the league as well as being dumped out of the Capital One Cup.

It makes the heady days of August seem so long ago as we scratch around for a bit of form and know that our away performances against Watford and Southampton in particular have not been acceptable.

And that is a view shared by captain Ashley Williams "We are really disappointed. We didn’t do enough to get anything from the game

"It was a poor performance as a team — on and off the ball — so it was a disappointing day.

"We moved the ball slowly and didn’t play with any intensity or pace.

"In the second half we wanted a reaction and we conceded an early goal. We didn’t get going until the last 15 minutes.

"It hurts us more than anyone at the club. The boys were very down in the dressing room, as they should be.

"We are the ones that go out there and play, and even if we don’t perform we have to come out and speak (to the media) and face up to it.

"We put a lot of work in throughout the week in order to win this game, and when you don’t get the performance and result it hurts. The fans are disappointed, and so are we.

"I understand we will lose games, but the manner in which we lost the game was disappointing. That wasn’t us out there today.

"It’s all about showing the right attitude and training well in order for the next game — the senior boys will make sure of that.”
