G.M's Match Preview: Rams Will Beat Bees For Back To Back Home Wins

Derby welcome Brentford to the iPro for their second home game in four days.

At times, Derby rode their luck on Saturday against a competent Leeds side but The Rams should have two nil up before the late drama in the 95th minute when the away side hit the post.

Fans left feeling relieved and there was a sense that had Pearson been in charge, the ball would have hit the inside of the post and gone in.

After a poor, lunging tackle by Bartley on Anya, the Derby winger was left struggling for fitness. Yes, the Leeds Captain won the ball, but he left the ground and it was arguably two footed. Derby had the last laugh though as Anya's replacement in Johnny Russell, smashed in the winning goal after a Derby corner.

Russell could start for Anya and Bryson may come in for Hughes as he is also struggling with a slight injury. Hughes is the most likely option if as fans were told, he only left the field due to cramp. Weimann is waiting in the wings if McClaren decides to rest or try something different to Ince who was in and out of the game on Saturday.

After a great home debut, Max Lowe is in doubt with a slight groin strain. Olsson or Baird could start at left back, both of who will need to show something now they face more competition for a spot in the side with the rise of Lowe.

Johnson, who played with more energy and determination on Saturday, is likely to continue in the CDM role. Vydra is likely to once again play the lone striker role but he did cover a lot of miles on Saturday so Wilson could deputise if required.

Brentford have made a good start to the season and sit in 9th spot, just outside the playoffs. They lost 3-1 away to Newcastle and had a poo defeat away to Wolves recently, but they have had some good results winning away at Brighton, beating Reading and smashing Preston 5-0.

Brentford may have defensive problems as Dean is suspended while Elder and Henry are doubtful and midfielder Alan Judge is long term injury. Derby will need to keep a very close eye on Hogan who has scored 8 goals this season.

Match Prediction:

Brentford like to play attacking football and are a good team on the break. They have a goal difference of plus 7, having scored a total of 19 this season. They like to go out and attack which might suit Derby.

Derby have a reasonably good home record in recent years against Brentford and the visitors have only won one of their last six away games, drawing one and losing four.

This will be a tough game for Derby and if Baird has to play left back, Brentford could exploit this. Hopefully an attacking away team will suit Derby but they may be more cautious after their 3-1 defeat to Newcastle.

The back 5 including Carson and Johnson in the CDM role, have a very important job to do if Derby are to keep Brentford at bay.

Derby to win 2-1 (just!) and Butterfield to score.
