Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has insisted that his side are ready to bounce back and make amends for their narrow 1-0 defeat away at Derby County at the weekend.
Speaking to United's official website, Monk proclaimed that his players are ready to put in a good performance for the fans.
"We are obviously frustrated with the result but looking back at the game we had the chances to take something from it. Our performance deserved something from the game but we didn’t so we have to use that disappointment for Tuesday night.
"As it is in the Championship, there’s a quick turnover. You have to focus on the positives of what we have we have been doing and put them into the Wigan game."
The Whites have transformed Elland Road into something of a fortress in recent weeks, having won their last four games in all competitions at Elland Road. Monk also says that he can feel the tide turning on home turf.
"Result dictate that feeling but the fans and players are understanding. I talked earlier in the season about that apprehension with these young players playing for a big club in front of an expectant crowd and they had to overcome that. The players are doing that now, they are enjoying the football at Elland Road.
"They feel the real support of the fans, really good atmospheres and the best part is when the team have had to dig in, the crowd are right with them. That’s massively important, I know quite a few occasions where that has really helped.
"The lads have talked about it afterwards, that feeling of the crowd with them and putting the fear into the opposition. The crowd see the team giving 100%, and how we are trying to play and improve every game. We are fighting at Elland Road all together and that’s very important for us going forward.”
Tonight's opponents Wigan Athletic are currently embroiled in a basement battle, sitting 22nd in the table with 12 games played. Despite their shocking standing however, Monk professed that the Latics will pose a threat and wary of said threat he is.
"They are a very good footballing team, I’m quite surprised they are where they in the league with the football they have been playing. We have to be very mindful of their strengths but really it’s about us improving, getting better and we’re confident in our way of football. With the crowd behind us we’ll look to impose ourselves on the opposition and if we can do that we will give a good account of ourselves and get the three points we all want.”
