Yet Another Linked to St Mary's From Spain

Saints are being linked with just about every available player in Spain and here is news of the latest, this time from Athletico Madrid.

Saints are being linked with Luciano Vietto from Spanish giants Athletico Madrid, the Argentinian striker who will turn 24 in December spent last season on loan at Sevilla where he scored 6 times in 21 La Liga games, 14 starts & 7 from the bench.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekoh has tweeted to say Saints are in talks with Athletico Madrid

"Southampton in talks to sign Atlético Madrid striker Luciano Vietto. Scored 10 goals on loan at Sevilla last season. Sampdoria want him too"

Vietto started his career in his native Argentina and joined Villareal in Spain in 2014 for 5.5 million euros, 12 goals in 32 league games earned him a 20 million Euro move to Athletico Madrid, but he struggled to get into their side scoring just once in 19 La Liga appearances leading to spending last year out on loan.

Saints are now being linked with a striker who at 5ft 8 1/2 inches appears to be a pocket battleship rather than a target man.

How much he will cost is open for negotiation but if Saints are in talks then this looks to be one of those signings that come in under the radar.
