Jansson Linked Again

Saints are once again being linked with a bid for Leeds United central defender Pontus Jansson, but will the Yorkshire club be willing to sell ?

Jansson has been on Saints radar for some time and there was some speculation back in the summer that Saints might try to hijack Leeds deal to make the player's loan from Torino last season permanent.

That turned out not to be the case and Leeds signed him for £4 million from the Serie A side whom he joined in 2014 from Malmo.

His time at Torino was not completely successful and he was used as the back up central defender leading him to seek more game time resulting in a loan deal to Leeds on a season long loan in August 2016 and following a great season for them a permanent deal last summer.

Saints have been monitoring and may make a bid, his agent has claimed that Jansson will not leave Leeds mid season and will see out this campaign, however that could be agent speak for "he wants to go, come and get him".

Whilst that may be the case, Leeds be willing to sell will be a different matter, they are right up there in the promotion race in the Championship and whilst automatic promotion may be a bit beyond them, a play off spot is within their grasp.

So it would take an exceptional offer to get them to sell and even that would probably not be enough given their ambitions, so I don't expect this one to happen.
