Derby Down Under - No Interest Loan!

It seems many Rams players are being shopped around for loan moves to ease the clubs wage bill but it seems those up for rent may be unwilling to go.

On current form there should be no Championship club willing to take on the out of sorts Robbie Savage let alone all or part of his massive salary. Perhaps struggling luxury car dealers should be encouraging their local team to put their hand up and in turn potentially boost their sales.

Perhaps one of those very salesmen has influence at League one club Brighton as they offered to take a chance on Robbie. He then swiftly refused the deal and it appears Gary Teale took the same view of Albion as he also turned down a move in the same direction this week.

Why would two blondes turn down a chance to play by the seaside in a town boasting  a thriving nightlife with seafront bars, restaurants, nightclubs, amusement arcades and even a nudist beach to attend if they so desire. Sounds like even more of a holiday than they are currently enjoying in Derby. Mind you that holiday might actually also involve playing Football. Perhaps that gives us the answer.

The club was quite honest in saying it would have to partially subsidise the heavy wage bill that comes with having Savage on the books. It would be interesting to know exactly what percentage the Rams would continue to pay should he manage a loan as I suspect it would be a hefty amount. Maybe the club should just keep him at the club as a ball or towel boy, if for no other reason than fans would probably get more value for money from that than his other efforts for the club this campaign.

In various fan labelled him the most expensive mistake since the great Fabrizio Ravanelli. I think that is a bit harsh on the ‘White Feather’ who at least managed to look like he was up to the standard required for a while unlike Robbie.

Hopefully Andy Todd will also find a home soon as although never rising to the heights hoped by Rams fans; he was not alone in that last season. It is a shame to see a player with his obvious ability wasting away and not plying his trade. Mind you I am sure that a large pay packet collected every week is helping to cushion that disappointment.

Sterjovski is another player that has been mentioned in possible loan moves by some news sources but nothing official. I would hate to see that as the clubs only genuine attacking midfielder. He can also play as a winger and even in defence should he be required. With his quality he should at worst a bench player and I continue to be baffled and frustrated by his continual absence. As frustrated as regular readers of my column are because I never let up about it!

They may not have come around yet but it is only a matter of time before some players join Camara and Dickinson on loan side of the ledger. Plus if you believe Paul Jewell we may also see some players brought into the club as well. No doubt this will depend totally on some wages being outsourced or perhaps driven away in a luxury car would be a more apt description.

Go Ewe Rams! :0)
