Southampton Make Formal Offer For Defender

According to Fabrizio Romano the man who has his finger on the pulse on a lot of transfer issues, Saints could be about to sign a defender

footballfancast.com are reporting that transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Southampton have made a formal bit to Strasbourg to sign a defender on loan.

Abakar Syllar is a 6ft 2 central defender who joined Strasbourg from Club Brugge in July 2023 for around £18 million plus add ons.

His time at the club has been mixed and in recent months he has found himself mainly on the bench for the French club.

Sam Amo-Ameyaw could well be going to Strasbourg in the opposite direction, so you would think this deal may well get done.

I'm not sure what we are hoping to gain here, at 22 years old and just 21 League games in Belgium to his name plus 35 for Strasbourg in the French League, he is not the experience that we need at the moment.

In truth we have Armel Bella-Kotchap at the club, a similar sort of player. but with a little more experience.
