getfootballnewsfrance.com are carrying the story that both Saints and West Brom have agreed terms with Rodez for Nolan Galves, who has also attracted interest from Millwall & Queens Park Rangers to name but two.
They go on to say that the decision now lies with the player.
On the face of it some Saints supporters will claim it is a no brainer, why would he go to West Brom who were almost relegated to the Championship rather than Southampton, who might well have been a Premier League club but for Spygate.
The answer is because he is a right back and Saints already have James Bree & Mads Roerslev in that position.
With a valuation said to be around £2 million Galvez does not look to be an upgrade on either, so where would he fit in the Southampton squad ?
This looks like it could be another deal where Saints buy the player and then loan him out to Goztepe, thus covering their costs and allowing him to develop and potentially become a Saints first teamer, as was the case with Kuryu Matsuki.
The deal for the Japanese midfielder was slammed at the time by some Saints supporters, but it has proved to be a good one, we found a player under the radar at a low price, Matsuki cost Saints £1.5 million, saw him grow at Goztepe and then brought him back to play a major part in our season.
This may be a good strategy for Saints, but will Galvez feel the same way, will he prefer the Turkish top flight to the Championship with West Brom.
