Man In The Middle - Stevenage (a)

The new season kicks off on Saturday and what better way to get warmed up for it with a look at who will be the referee for the game.

David Phillips has been given the honour for Stevenage Borough's first Football League game against the Silkmen.

Mr Phillips is currently a police officer based in Sussex and is married with two children.  He started refereeing back in 1981 for Sunday league football and was appointed into the National List of referees in 2008.

His first game in charge of Macclesfield was out trip to Bournemouth back in September 2008 with the Silkmen winning 1-0 although he did send off Gareth Evans.  He ref'd us again that season in a 3-1 defeat at Gillingham.

Last season he took charge of our game at Cheltenham which saw the Silkmen take home the three points with a 2-1 win.

Helping him on saturday are his assistants C Fitch and M D Stewart with the fourth official as S D Cook.
