Saints Tracking Ian Harte ! Why ?

Sky Sports are reporting that Saints are after Ian Harte from Carlisle, the big question is how many more defenders do we need.

Harte undoubtably would be a decent signing and was in the league 1 team last season, but surely this is scatter gun transfer dealing, put bluntly Saints already have three left backs, Harte's preferred position and four centre backs, all of whom are chasing a first team place, so why should we also want Harte it just doesnt make sense.

Surely Alan pardew transfer dealing would be called into question by the Chairman in the fact that he (the manager) signed a left back in the summer in Ryan Dickson, who now appears to be completely out of favour with barely a chance to prove himself

Saints supporters would rather see the team strengthened with a wide player or even a striker, the arrival of Guly in midfield has caused raised eyebrows in some quarters as to whether this is a Pardew signing, the manager seems to concentrate on the areas he knows well ie the Championship and league 1 when it comes to bringing in players and some would think it strange that he would be aware of a serie B player in Guly, likewise last season the arrival of the completely unknown Papa Waigo, Pardew's reluctance to play him suggesting that this was a transfer he didnt have the casting vote on.
