Doolan signs for Southport

Dale midfielder John Doolan has agreed a deal to become Southport's player/assistant manager next season.

It was always made clear that Doolan would leave Spotland after the play-off final and he has become Southport manager Gary Brabin's first signing of the summer. He will be introduced to their supporters on Thursday at the club's TIY AGM.

Speaking to Southport.gb.com Brabin had this to say

'John will join the club as player/assistant manager'

'He can play in a holding role and central midfield. He'll be a great asset on the field and, with his contacts in the game and his experience, a great asset to me in my managerial duties. John has come straight to Southport from Wembley after his appearance in the League Two Play-off Finals and I regard him as a massive signing for Southport FC.'

Doolan joined dale in January 2006 and went on to make 90 appearances for the club scoring 5 goals.

RochdaleAFC.com would like to thank John for his service to the club and wish him the very best for the future.
