Sorry, but you deserve whatever you get if you go to WH Smith for something to eat.

Alas, they're one of a few options where I work. Otherwise they're up there with Stamford Bridge, Frankie and Benny's and church as places I do not f**k with.

I had the ‘pleasure’ of going to TG Jones the other week. I’d ordered a 2026 diary from them online that had been reduced to £2 or something like that and opted to click and collect it from their Chiswick store. On picking it up I was greeted by a staff member who I gave the collection code to and the conversation went something like…

TGJ - Oh it arrived yesterday, you’ve been waiting a long time right?

CLBR - No I only bought it the other day.

TGJ - (after handing me the item) We were selling these for 99p last month but they’ve all gone.

CLBR - Oh well only £2!

I keep hearing about a cost of living crisis. Prices going up, rents becoming unaffordable, AI taking all our jobs. With that in mind, why the f**k are the masses, yet again, queuing up for some overhyped piece of shit?

In this case it's the Swatch x AP Pop Watch. A watch that looks like it fell out of a Kinder Egg. Sure it's got the Audemars Piguet written on the dial but that's about as far as that goes.

And yet there are queues around the block for it.

It's this whole hype culture thing. These companies have got people queuing up for bullshit.

Sun's out, c*nts out. Specifically motorbike c*nts. I live in a village and the main road is over there somewhere, not too near. But when motorbike c*nts insist on revving up loudly along it I can only hope for their immediate, irreversible paralysis.

Absolutely selfish little adult children. Speeding along without a care for other people. Literal sociopaths. And guess what, I'm not impressed. I'd be impressed if you MADE the bike. But you didn't. You bought it and now you're revving about noisily as if it makes you cool. Guess what, you were a c**t when you were wheeling your normal bike at 16 and now you're a double c**t on a motorbike.

Eat shit, c**t.

(although if you're a sensible motorcyclist or riding on a track, that's all good. I don't hate motorcyclists. I just hate c**ts).

ALSO:

My work. For being open today and me having to be here. I should be in my garden melting and setting up the BBQ for day three of the Bluce Ree BBQ fest. Instead I'm in an office having to listen to people called f**king Debbie or Linda or whatever. Whoever invented the concept of an open office is a C**T.

Milk is £1.99 for a 4-pint carton in my local corner shop. I’ve always handed over £2 and not bothered with the 1p change. So you’d think a reasonable amount of ‘credit’ would have accrued over the years. Went in the other day and bought groceries etc which came to the grand total of £10.02.

I prefer to use cash if possible, a quirk of mine which they are happy to accommodate. Proffering a £20 note, I felt confident that a £10 note would be handed to me in return (there were several in the till) and I’d be on my way.

But no. With the queue of impatient hipsters and yummy mummies behind me beginning to spill over into the street, the shop assistant went through the motions of counting out the exact change of £9.98 in shrapnel (including what appeared to be one Swedish krona), some of which eluded my outstretched hands and finished up on the floor.

I remarked that it might have been easier to just give me a £10 note, particularly in view of the fact that I generally tell them to ‘keep the change’ when the situation has arisen in the past, but this was simply met with a blank look and shrug of the shoulders.

In Ireland, they round bills to the nearest 5 cents. I’m the one with his hand out for the 2 they owe me. At least in Italy they used to give you a sweet in the Lire days.

Read that now it’s above 25 degrees a load of degenerates have ignored signs not to bathe in ponds in London with the knock-on effect of wildlife being in danger, eggs being abandoned and taken by predators and the like.

I’m far from a passionate environmentalist but just wound me up.

Indeed. Just not my thing. I do put almost everything in the right bin though. The number of bins is another irritation along with people dumping anything in the street’s big communal bins, rendering my minimal efforts to put only the right things in the right bin somewhat pointless.

Equally I don't know why any women think that having a nose ring/septum piercing makes them more attractive.

Or perhaps, they don't?
