Lucky it was not worse the way they rolled him into that 'stretcher' - he was bouncing on it as they took him down the tunnel. If the players are so valuable they should be taken off like in rugby.
Perhaps this is a wake up call to pretending to being injured and being "stretched off" only to leap up and come back on the pitch . . . and those needing real attention.
The ref let too many bad fouls go un-punished.

It is easy to say it was intentional when you see the ultra slow motion but at real speed it was extremely unfortunate and clumsy. It is where he hit the kid in the back that was the issue. I thought the level of paramedic aid was appalling. They didn't pre-brace him, they didn't get a doctor on, FIFA really have to take a look at this.
A real shame. Neymar is the real deal and we've been robbed of his skill on what has been the best world cup I can remember.

I wonder if this was 'afters' because earlier in the game I got the feeling that the Brazilians were trying to take out James RodrÃguez.
Every time he got the ball, more or less, someone would attempt to take him out. The ref did nothing, and I've not seen too many 'experts' talking about it - just the usual "Brazil play samba football" crap.

It is all well and good trying to keep the cards in the pocket but assaults like those on James should always get a yellow, at least, or we end up with players getting unnecessarily injured. The challenge on Neymar was clumsy at best and possibly reckless but not out of place in the 'culture or spirit' that the referee allowed to develop in this match.
I also thought that Caesar was lucky to escape a red as the, so called, covering defender was not going to stop the forward getting his shot on goal. Only Caesar's foul did that!

Didn't see many flowing passing moves last night, just lots of fouling (31!). It seemed they were just using any means (mostly unfair) to stop any Colombian player, particularly Rodriguez, getting into threatening areas. Fernandinho could have been red carded twice over.
And how did they score their goals? From two set pieces. Says it all really.
In all the furore over Suarez, the Guardian found a Uruguayan academic who claimed that "River Plate" football (ie Uruguay and Argentina) was about craftiness rather than violence, which hypocritical Europeans specialised in. Thing was with all the constant play acting and clutching of limbs whenever someone goes to ground under minimal contact as has been the case with the Brazil team and the Germans come to that, I genuinely thought Neymar was play acting and it was all another ploy to run the clock down at the end. I reckon the medical team thought so too given how casual they dragged his arse off on the stretcher.
Shame for him but blame the ref last night, he was letting the violence go unpunished too often and that's the consequence.

My brother-in-law is over from Sao Paulo at the moment. he says Brazilian club football is frustrating to watch. A lot of it happens at walking pace, and if anyone gets past a defender he's instantly fouled rather than given a chance to play in space. Not much excitement, lots of whistle.

It was actually 54 fouls in total with Wimblerazil's share 31 so about a 60/40 split.
The ref, for want of a better description, was Sr Carlos Velasco Carballo of Spain who is probably only getting a game at this stage due to Spain's early exit. Would be amazed if he got another.
