Trying to read Clive's preview but I've suddenly got movie ads either side of his text and now to the right as I type this.
I do have ad-blocker but I cant try and read this site with sodding tv style ads running either side of the text.

Yes I get overloaded with ads too, they've definitely increased the number of ads and made them more prominent, I get some stupid digital ad pop up half way through an article with sound which I can't get rid of. It's got to the point where I rarely read the site content and only use the message board which is a shame as the content is good. Perhaps they need to realise that bombarding people with ads will put people off the website and then they'll no longer have a platform for their ads, a self-inflicted wound. |  |

Up to a point,Lord Copper. I understand Clive's POV BUT the film ads in particular sandwich text and the briefest touch of the cursor either side and you get loud spit migraine-inducing ad you're not interested in at all.

Yeh we've moved ad agencies and we're still bedding down with what's acceptable and what's not acceptable with them - I've been diverted away from the site completely on a couple of occasions, to king.com (rubbish) and a sex webcams site (much better) which obviously isn't acceptable.
Traffic has been good last few weeks but we'd had a few lean weeks before that. The fewer people use the site, the more people use it with adblocker, the more ads we have to put on to pay for the server, the storage, the pictures and my peroni habit. Suspect we're about to have a very quiet summer as well which won't help at all.
I'll forward this thread to techi so any issues (and sorry but 'there's loads of ads' isn't an issue, it's a necessary evil) post them on here. |  | | |

I use an adblocker. I usually disable it for sites that I like and want to support (setting 'don't run on pages in this domain'). Like this one. Recently this site (and other sites) has started crashing my knackered old work computer. When I switch adblocker back on, no crashes. The advertisement graphics are too much for it. The computer has been updated as far as it can be so my choices are;
1. New computer
2. Don't use the internet
3. Use an adblocker |  |

Its still a load better than West London Sport which is unusable on a mobile due to the pop up ads and the click bait that is Get West London.

Any update on the page breaking when using Chrome on Android, Clive? I used to use Fire Fox when visiting here, but reverted back to Chrome when it looked like it was getting fixed - seems to still be an issue though. |  | | |

Try using Firefox 48, for me it's the most stable platform for this site and others I use for work. I have used Opera for web access and keep FF48 as a ready download because when you shut down and re=start Firefox udates to the newest version which doesn't run many sites I use for work.
I've read Google Chrome, since January, are no longer running Flash sites or Flash components advising visitors such sites are 'unsafe.' Seems a bit daft as half of the webs content is in Flash, it's a bit like growing a golden egg tree for 20 years only to chop it down with nothing else available.
Not complaining Clive, I know alot of it is out of your hands and Ads fund the running costs.
It wont change until Advertisers demand far better targetted advertising other than throwing cow pats at a barn door hoping some of it sticks..... | | | |

Not so familiar with android or mobiles, but there should be a facility to increase font size?
This is what does my nogging in with Tech, 'progress' is so often going backwards. And components are so rushed to the market that they are not fully tested or developed and often leave gaping holes in security and are not as user friendly as a previous release.
