That was as much as I have enjoyed a game and a performance in a very long time. And individual performances to excite, particularly Freeman and Luongo.
However, that 'formation' surely cannot possibly work. For all the world it looked like a flat back 4,

But it wasn't, as whilst we had Wszolek wide right, we had no one on the left covering bidwell, as Freeman was given licence to roam, which he did magnificently.Well, actually, we sort of did, as bidwell played mostly left half and Lynch covered him whilst he went on jaunts. But that meant that we had two centre halves playing 40 yards apart on many occasions. Ok, Scowen filled in to an extent but not enough and we will be wide open if teams play through us and if we are pushing on and lose possession.
But I've no false hopes this season so if we carry on entertaining like that, that'll do for me |  |
