This might actually be football finally giving mental illness the respect it deserves. I'm cynical so don't disagree it could be to avoid a problem with him relapsing, but suffering the tragedy he did will affect most people and if he's still struggling with it, better to allow him the time he needs rather than force him to remain in the spotlight and face the consequences.
