I have just read that there is a flock of Budgie's numbering 7,000 strong making their home on the outskirts of South West London. I've never seen one in the err wild, probably can't make it past the fried chicken establishments of North West London.

There's a couple of flocks of them whizzing around the gritty urban jungle of Chiswick. I really like the things - as long as I ignore the wellies, barbor jackets and range rovers all over the place I can pretend I actually live somewhere exotic. Don't see any problem with them getting on with the other species to my untrained eye - the crows and pigeons seem to talk to them in quite a personable manner anyway.

My wife said she saw seven on our neighbours' bird table today. I've seen them as long as I've lived in SW14, but the numbers have gone off the chart recently.

I remember being surprised to see loads of them in Staines in the mid-90's when I occasionally worked in an office there.

At home in Kensal Rise I used to see the odd one or two but the first time I clearly remember seeing a flock of them was in 2007. I was in the back garden of place I'd just moved into and was pointing them out to my MIL.

These days I see them every day in Willesden.
