Last thing we need is more injuries although the depressing part is " Cousins will be fit for the Brentford game "

Oh dear and the dreaded words 'massive pitch'.

"I’ve got every confidence and belief in this group of players to go and get a result."

Oh dear. 3-0 to Derby is a result!

Never knowingly right.

Derby 17/20 with Betfair.

Nailed on. I just don't think I can do it though.

Derby are better than us so should win especially with Luongo out, I'd snap your hand off for a draw tonight otherwise we go into Brentford game 3 losses in a row and the moaners getting semis on for another change

I'm guessing something like this tonight then?

Smithies
Petrasso, Baptiste, Robinson, Bidwell
Freeman, Scowen, Manning
Mackie, Sylla, Washington

Hard to predict the front 3. Interesting that Chair and Smyth are in the squad - seems like LuaLua has been totally frozen out. No mention of Goss either who you would think is one of the few players capable of covering for our lack of CBs.

No chance he'll drop Lynch though I wish he would.

I'd like to see

Wzolek Baptiste Robinson Bidwell

Wheeler Manning Scowen Freeman

Sylla Wash

but think it'll be

Wzolek Baptiste Lynch Robinson Bidwell

Scowen Manning Freeman

Sylla Mackie

Just popped open the first beer of the trip. Not sure I've started early enough looking at the squad

I would like to see:

Smithies
Baptiste, (Giles) Phillips, Robinson,
Wszolek, Scowen, Manning, Bidwell
Wheeler, Freeman
Sylla

Might as well give Phillips a shot at CB. He seems to have the chops for it. No sense in shoe-horning a midfielder into the role.

From memory, I think Wheeler has played in an advanced role before and both he and Freeman can pull out wide if necessary. I think Ollie might plump for Washington, however, as he seems to get used in games like this.

Sylla is just Sylla. Probably score a hat-trick with his arse, knee and face.

10 minutes past midday -- totally legit.

He could stick with the wing back thing he loves by putting Manning LWB and Bidwell LCB, which I think he probably would have done if he didn't now need Manning for CM. I reckon it will be something along the lines of

--------------Smithies----------------
Wzsolek--Baps--Robbo--Bidwell
---------Scowen--Manning--------
-------------Freeman----------------
Mackie------Sylla--------Wheeler

All being fit that's actually the formation I would play anyway TBH.

Seems like two of the injuries were picked up last-minute at training, so I'm not sure he can change the formation they've been working on with little time to prepare an alternative, Simmo?

He talks incessantly about training his players to play multiple systems and often changes formations 3-4 times in the space of a game so adapting at short notice should be no excuse. Except for individuals that may have to play slightly outside their usual positions, it shouldn't be too big a problem to tweak things where necessary.

if Lynch is out...surely Smith will start, if only to add height to defend set pieces

I agree with you, Simmo (as ever) except that this really was last-minute. I think, in fairness, that if you've studied the oppo and picked a plan, then worked on it for a couple of days on the training ground then it's probably best to stick to it if you can at all.
