There is a photo of Rangers fighting Pompey in Ellerslie and I know the lad in the middle, its not Gregor.

Was a weird one that Pompey punch up.

Can't remember why now, but there was a huge empty strip of seats between Q Block and the middle of Ellerslie, which became the no man's land between us and all the Pompey fans who were sat in towards the Ellerslie halfway line. What was that all about? It's never been like that before or since. Were we doing up the ground or something?

I was sat right in the empty strip as a young lad and admit I sh*t it and ran on the pitch with loads of other people.

Danny John Jules was still a local boy a long time after that. Used to see him around Kensal Rise / Queens Park area quite a bit when I lived there.

Those kids should enter the Olympics. One minute they're in Acklam Rd (off Portobello) then they are in Shepherds Bush then Brook Green.

Yep, that's my memory of it - we won 2-1. Some justice and probably the last result in that day due to the delays.

Remember the players were worried about families as there were some idiots trying start on A & B blocks from the Upper School End.

"Thank you for supporting Queens Park Rangers Steep Staircase"... and I thought I'd signed up for a rollercoaster.

7 green bottles

My mum worked at Stanford house the same time that was made 75 and a mate was sent there for a while, a bit of a holiday camp really.

But lots of abuse allegations followed

This bracelet has been stolen. Where did you get it, son?

Honest mister, this blond geezer down at Fulham gave it to me.

I spent some time in Latchmere House around this time - it was a young offenders place. It wasn't a particularly difficult place to navigate. I also spent time in Rochester Borstal allocation wing, before being sent to Dover Borstal to do my sentence - 6 months to two years. Rochester was pretty unpleasant - whilst you were being allocated you were banged up for 23 hours a day, with no books or magazines allowed until you were sent to your final destination. I did three weeks there, it's the place that Scum was filmed at. Dover at the time was considered a full security Borstal - filled with boys and young men found guilty of violent crimes. Only one other place - Portland - was considered worse than Dover. There was a very different approach to young offenders back in those days.... I eventually did just over nine months in Dover.....

Seem to recall Paul Murray scoring a great goal in that game.

Feltham is an odd place as well. Within touching distance of Heathrow and yet, the world is totally unattainable!

23h lock-downs a regular feature. And when the young offenders do come out, the authorities exhibit shock when pent-up lads go bananas. Low numbers of officers and poor rehab projects don't help much either.

I was working there in 2004 as part of a Public Inquiry into the death of an inmate on the morning he was due for release - imagine how is family must have felt? Our jails and criminal justice system is really in a US style fcked up mess!

I think Portland was the extreme choice for people that were considered to be beyond control. Obviously it meant that no one would visit, especially if you were from london. All reports reminded me of the Port Merion/Prisoner series.....
Feltham was for the odd cases - at the time considered to be the sexual deviants etc..... very different from what it is at present I believe....

I was once being a pissed-up twät in a pub on Portland, while on some naval cadet kind of thing, and moments away from being filled in by the glowering locals, we were rescued by a mod plod finding and arresting us (for our own wellbeing I imagine).

A magnificent football club, the love of our lives, finding a way to finally have its day in the sun.

No it was a 1972 film starring Carol White. In one scene she walks up the road (SA) pushing a pushchair when a 70s football skirmish breaks out and she gets caught up. Spookily I think we were playing Bristol City in the scene.

Hmm, 1970's skirmish v Bristol City, that's going to take some time finding Carol White then!

I remember that Sea Cadet place up on the Portland Bill, just up the hill from where the ferries used to come in. I was at TS Pelican Sea Cadets in Ruislip in my youth. What unit were you based at Hopphoops?
