Burton away 09:26 - Jan 8 with 8950 viewsterryb

Now that the annual waste of the first Saturday of January has passed us, we return to the important matter of the trip to Burton.

I will be making one of my infrequent away trips & would ask the veterans of past visits for advice on street parking & which pub to quench my thirst in.

At present I'm favouring the Burton Bridge Inn (trad bitter a must) which is about a 30 minute walk to the ground & hopefully the car can be parked in the estate (Sydney Street) between the town centre & the ground.

All advice will be greatly received.

Thanks

One from Boston. Never been there before, looking forward to it. Going by train....they are running, right?

Rolling, more likely.

An Anorak Question....

Presumed the trip up would start from St Pancras, surprised to note there appears to be an equally good service from Euston. Would there be any advantage one way or t'other? Left to my own devices I'd choose the latter, purely as it's a such a doddle from North Wembley.

If you go from St Pancras you have to change at Derby whereas if you go from Euston you can either change at Tamworth or Birmingham New St. Tamworth is closer but not many fast Virgin trains stop there so it is more likely you would have to do the slower London Midland services so I suspect going via Birmingham by Virgin will be quicker.

Bonus game??

I'm hoping that neither the team nor Holloway - hey, nor the fans - are treating this as a bonus game. This is a massive game for both teams. It's no good getting glorious and unexpected wins against the big teams then losing to our relegation rivals (maths alert: unless we win a *large* number of games against the big teams).

We need to get something out of this. But will we?

"Burton are garbage at home, not won since September against Fulham"

Oh dear God no...

Good grief, had no idea about this statistic. Scary. First away trip of the season for me too. It is written.

Do you know what, I fancy us to win this game, 3-0. Positive thinking.

Wow, are you sure you're feeling OK? Mind you, that would be a nice scoreline and a huge confidence booster.

Two own goals and a Smith header? Or, being greedy, let's hope for the football equivalent of bar bar bar: Smyth (dribble and shot), Smith (header from close range), Smithies (massive goal kick)

I'm not sure of the exact capacity but it's around 6000. If we're taking nigh on 1000, that will fill the away end.

Very handy win that, as I recall...

I’ve been there but not with QPR. It’s a good terrace though obviously not very high at the back so you won’t get a great view of the far end. Still preferable to the seats IMO for the novelty, couple of quid saved and facing the whole pitch rather than being stuck in a corner.

The food at the ground was excellent but this was nearly ten years ago.

Hi everyone,

Purchased a ticket for tomorrow, but it has yet to arrive.

Can I ask advice of what to do if it’s not in tomorrow mornings post please?

Cheers

Looks like it's now pay on the day

Whoever runs the ticketing section of our website needs sacking never updated and generally poor communication
