I know he's done his badges etc but to go straight in as an International Manager with absolutely no club experience (4 games as caretaker at Man Utd doesn't count) whatsoever is just bonkers.
Being a Manager isn't just about the job in hand, there's so many others things around it that you need to work up into to. It was 12 1/2 years before I became Head of Production and there's no way I could have done it without progressing up through Production Assistant, Production Co-ordinator and then Production Manager first.
Good luck to him, he'll need it.

I actually think it's a much easier job then taking on a club and can be done part time really. You have no transfers to negotiate You don't have financial constraints to abide by You have a squad of players to coach but only a few times a season. It's Wales so the expectation isn't exactly high, only qualified for 1 tournament 60 years and that was only because the criteria was dumbed down. Qualification is the aim, anything else is a massive bonus. You'll no doubt get a large pay off if you're sacked It's a great job for Giggs to cut his teeth in IMO.

Why ? By making such a stupid appointment they are getting exactly what they deserve. Who else would appoint someone who has no managerial experience at all, simply can't be @rsed to consider anything other than a top premier position and who, as their top player, couldn't even be bothered to turn up for 50% of their games.

Low expectations, so a perfect opportunity for him to learn on the job. I'm actually glad it's gone to someone young, rather than the usual OAP talent(less) pool...

If he hasn't got any of those tasks to do, how is it cutting his teeth?
If he at some point in the future is no longer Wales' Manager, he'll be in exactly the same position as of yesterday when it comes to Managing at Club level.... none.
Cutting his teeth would be starting off at lower League level and working his way up.

I hope Giggs does well but it isn't the appontment I wanted. When he missed all those friendlies for Wales, he was putting his club before his country. If he had been honest about this and said he was doing it to try to lengthen his career, I think most people would have accepted that. However, he would play for Man Utd on the weekend, then claim to be injured for the Wales friendly, only to make a miraculous recovery in time for the next Utd game.
And his behavior with his brother's wife puts him in the same bracket as John Terry as far as I'm concerned.
