Joe Lumley on 09:51 - Apr 25 with 2446 views | smegma | In a word yes. I think he's a ready made replacement for Smithies. 9 clean sheets for Blackpool tells a atory.
Joe Lumley on 10:01 - Apr 25 with 2396 views | Ashdown_Ranger | Have I missed something - why isn't Smithies playing? Or is Holloway simply giving the other keepers a run now we're safe?

Had concussion, think rules were brought in meaning you can’t play for a week or two.

Smithies wife is/has just about to have a baby, so I think Olly is doing the decent thing while also getting a look at possible replacements.

Also Smithies' wife was due to give birth. But yes, why not give Lumley a go? Much as I want Smithies to stay, but I feel given his quality he really should be advancing his career now and playing at a higher level. I will be quite shocked if not a single offer comes in from a Prem club this summer, you'd really have to question their scouting and attitude to lower league players if that was the case. Equally he'd be a very good option for one of the relegated clubs, or current Championship top 6.

Joe Lumley on 10:46 - Apr 25 with 2201 views | MedwayR | I'd have played Ingram for the rest of the season so now I'd do the same for Lumley. I'll be surprised if Smithies is still here next season so let's have a look at Ingram & Lumley.

No Prem club will pick up Smithies as first choice. i know it's heresy, but they won't. A Prem club might want him to join as a back-up, but then why would he bother? He'll still be here next season. Goalies like stability.

I think you're right. Even though I think he would improve some PL teams. I wondered whether Cardiff or Fulham might go for him when one of them goes up. Neither have overly-convincing No1s and will be more aware of Smithies than PL clubs.

Matt Ryan at Brighton is about the same height as Smithies and apparently clubs looked at him but thought him too small for a PL keeper. Both same size as Peter Shilton. Don't know how he ever got a game!

I would have thought he'd be starting, otherwise like you say what's the point. Pretty excited to see him play TBH, been going really well at Blackpool.

He's around 6ft 2in. Is that too small for a Prem keeper these days??

Deng is out on loan as well. And half as good as Lumley.
