At the risk of repeating any similar threads and spurred on by the Mince thread. What has been your favourite comedies over the years (old and new) For me - Old - Laurel & Hardy, Fawlty Towers, the Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise Not quite so old - Only Fools, Black Adder (apart from the first series), The Office, Alan Partridge, Harry Enfield and the Fast Show. Newer - I am struggling a bit to be honest. Modern Family is great and Car Share was brilliant. I've probably missed loads so fill me in (so to speak)
can I be alone in thinking Dads Army is Sh1te ? I don't find it funny whatsoever, same as Morecambe & wise not funny at all anyway for what its worth my taste is quite varied
Shooting Stars Just good friends (very underrated) Auf Weidersain pet OFAH Bottom (when I was going through my Dope smoking years) Police Squad Phoenix nights Fast Show and the daddy of them all being George Cole in Minder , the bloke was a genius
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
Brian Moore
Some great shouts on here , I'm adding Curb Your Enthusiasm, I know it's not to everyone's taste ( my other half hates it) but I think it's one of the best!

Yea some of the scenes if not most of the scenes with Larry and Leon will never be bettered absolute genius stuff. I was a huge fan of The Larry Sanders show too, (the late Garry Shandling). I could spend all day talking to Stanley Unwin. Tommy Cooper I just had to look at and I'd start laughing.
And as mentioned above somewhere 'Ripping Yarns' especially "Tomkinson's Schooldays" and "Golden Gorden" and to a lesser extent " Across the Andes by Frog"
"Life of Brian" way ahead of it's time.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
Many comedies seemed fun at the time, but the novelty would wear off or the material got too 'samey' or formulaic'.
Those that have stood the test of time for me and which I could watch a number of times.
Porridge The Young Ones (though there were a few weak episodes) Frasier Laurel & Hardy Bilko (inherited my dad's box set) The early Tom and Jerry cartoons (not the later poorly animated and rather naff ones...) Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister Rising Damp The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin First couple of series of Outnumbered Blackadder Drop the Dead Donkey Old Harry's Game (radio only) Clare in the Community (radio only) Fawlty Towers Monty Python Family Guy South Park (well, some...) Absolutely Fabulous (though later series started to grate a little)
If I had to narrow it down to just three, probably Blackadder, Porridge and Frasier.
Ah, a couple of good shouts I'd forgotten about.
I'd definitely also include Auf Wiedershen Pet and Green Wing.
Liberal commentator David Pakman has a segment in his show for hate mail sent in by Trump supporters. I find it pretty entertaining in a bizarre sort of way.
Lots of good ones already - but how about This Country? For those of us who have moved out to the sticks it’s so accurate - plus nice to see Swindon Town getting some publicity?
Too many to mention but if great means great then;
Laurel & Hardy - Alternative comedy isn't a recent thing Bilko - Fast paced wise cracks Steptoe & Son - The best ever , the pathos makes it. Morecambe & Wise - Complete professionals Reggie Perrin - Surreal Young Ones - Slightly anarchic but managed to remain mainstream Frasier - American comedy in the English ensemble style. Roz or Daphne ?
Too many honourable mentions to list though. Last of the Summer Wine, The Good Life......................................
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean we're not all against you.
Coupling is very underrated (OK first 3 series as series 4 went off) Arrested Development (also first 3series, although I see there is now a series 5 on netflix)

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
The Thick of It Yes Minister/Prime Minister Blackadder Partridge There was this Icelandic (IIRC) comedy on BBC 4 a few years ago set in a petrol station, which I found hilarious. Can't find what it was, might've dreamt it.
I’m not really into American garbage like Friends but I thought Taxi and Cheers were quite funny at times.Especially with Coach behind the bar. British comedy shows like ofah and rising damp were pretty funny in places.I must’ve been the only one in my family who used to find Only when I laugh amusing.Home to roost showed a different side to John Thaw and was funny too.
