Who do you fancy on loan then? on 11:24 - Aug 10 with 2773 views | daveB | I'm not against Chris Martin, was crap last year but very good at Fulham the year before and kind of striker we need, also unlikely to be recalled. Never seen Hemed play so no idea on him. Would love Danny Simpson back but imagine wages would be a big issue
Who do you fancy on loan then? on 11:59 - Aug 10 with 2689 views | BerkoRanger | Think I'd prefer a striker with pace who can play off Smith or Sylla as opposed to Chris Martin so DC can go to Millwall.

Can probably do both those things. And things can change. And difficult times sometimes call for measures you don't particularly like, but have to take anyway. Is all this too complex, Paul? Do you ever, ever get bored of this constant sniping?

who said anything about overpaying for players ? if we loan players in we are most likely having to pay a fee and wages , which is dead money something our DOF was against

Why is paying (a proportion of) wages to a loanee dead money, but wages to one of our own 'live' money? Equally what makes a transfer fee so much more alive than a loan fee?

Why is paying (a proportion of) wages to a loanee dead money, but wages to one of our own 'live' money? because if we sign a Premier league or a top end championship player we are looking at 10k plus in wages plus anything form 500k for a signing on fee we are also hoping the player actually wants to be here and not duck challenges or not get injured , or we could spend that money wisely on players who do want to be here that we can develop and hopefully sell on for a profit so we get our wonderful FFP fine down why develop other teams players when we could do that with our own , that was the message from Les wasn't it ?

Who do you fancy on loan then? on 14:19 - Aug 10 with 2290 views | EastR | Before the transfer window closed we will have likely budgeted for a combination of getting players in permanently and on loan. This has been the messaging from McClaren and Hoos in the past week. We didn’t make any permanent signings so there’ll be no capital outlay (and no potential later return) but I’m sure they’ll be planning to allocate the salary element to whoever comes in now on loan.

because you can sell one of your own players but a loan player will return to the parent club so you develop them and get no financial reward

Can't remember the last loan we 'developed' - actually Kyle Walker was probably the last one.

If you own the "asset" you can depreciate it in the accounts and reduce your tax bill. If some one else owns it they can....

Who do you fancy on loan then? on 15:30 - Aug 10 with 2084 views | W7Ranger | Is it not more a case of now getting 2 or 3 players in on loan with a view to a permanent deal? Which isn't such a bad thing. If it doesn't work out, you've not really lost anything. But if it does, you make it permanent?
