Good luck to him. Hope he is taking the whole family out there including his mum. New adventure for him I guess but still feel he had a lot to give here and at Prem level.
No-one except RSL came up to what he thought he was worth? Well I don't think we seriously underestimated the bloke, so fair enough, Ned, and all the best.
Good luck Ned I always liked you An excellent Championship central defender not a RB Intelligent good bloke who always gave 100%. Enjoy Utah, watch out for the Mormons they are scary
Nowhere near good enough at PL as we saw first hand. Interesting no PL or Championship clubs came in for him even on a free....
negotiations probably broke down over wages or length of contract I would imagine. I think part of the wanting to move up North thing apart from family was also that BBC Sport studios are up there and he can start getting more radio time.
good luck Ned

He did have Championship offers and turned them down. Last I heard he was thinking of retiring and doing other things than football with his life so I'm surprised at this. Salt Lake City isn't exactly an exotic retirement spot is it?

A foot in the door of the USA may lead to greater opportunities. Does he get a green card.

Isn't Ned an evangelical christian? Should fit it quite well if so. But I think 40% of the state is of other / no religious persuasion, therefore really not an issue. Personally I found Mormons to be as mixed a bunch of people as any other, little more conservative than average but, aside from their cult offshoots, no problem at all. Rather have a Mormon family next door than the local motorcycle chapter! Oh, for those who've never been out there, it's absolutely beautiful in that rugged type of way.
I can confirm the Salt Lake City is an absolutely horrible part of the world.
Full of weirdos too.
But anyway, I like Ned, good man and good luck to him.
Real Salt Lake is one of the better run franchises though. Still, I'm surprised too. I'd assume he's on DP money, but even so it'd be unlikely to match what a CD of his experience and quality would get in the Championship.

Michael Mancienne is currently the highest paid defender in the MLS. His salary for 2018 is $1.28 million. He had a decent outing last night, strong first half in particular, passing was first rate.
Spectacular scenery in the south of Utah. A man of Ned's cerebral qualities will love it. Bit of football in between to keep the money coming in - all makes sense.
