Shocking decision, imo. Why did they bother to rebuild it in the first place?

Couldn’t our rich owners outbid the Fulham owner? We Could then put a clause in saying that the scum and their fans weren’t allowed in.
We could have a decent ground with loads of leg room.

Are Fulham going to move there, and if they are can we have Craven Cottage?

Nice pubs, pleasant walk through the park to and from.

I'm not completely against the idea of selling Wembley. The sale will raise £600m - a lot of that will go into grass roots football, which has been lamentably ignored to a large extent.

Mind you, the stadium actually cost £750m-ish (all those years ago), so the price seems undervalued.

Hopefully 'the taxpayer' is repaid the amount £160,000,000+ we all subbed (plus interest).

The FA (and grass roots football) will still benefit from income from the stadium, apparently valued at £300m (though over what period of time I have no idea).

As long as the stadium remains available for England game; isn't renamed the McSoccer Arena; and is protected from demolition in favour of some property development wheeze, then why not?

'Will use the money to revitalise grassroots football. No they won't. They will chuck a few bob into Womens football, because that is very PC at the moment, and squander the rest.
They have loads of money already if they want to spend it. There are 92 members on the F A Council who more than likely want more wine with their dinners.

Southgate has just been given a new contact on 3 million a year, won’t take long for the dinosaurs to get through 600 million.

For Sale: part-worn stadium. Would suit car boot sales, gladiatorial events etc. £800m o.n.o. No tyre kickers. Call Bermondsey Dave at The Staffie & Handgun Public House after 9PM.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I completely get the cynicism about grassroots football benefiting form the sale of Wembley Stadium. The FA hasn't exactly covered itself in glory and the general perception is that it continues to be run by (mainly) a bunch of inept, ageing white men with their collective snouts in the trough.

But the much-publicised selling point the FA is pushing is that this WOULD be for the benefit of grassroots football.

I think the state of the English game is gradually improving - St George's seems to be producing results and other initiatives are in the pipeline.

A couple of years back my local team was granted community club status and was given £1.5m to develop the ground, most of that coming from the FA.
