That was a superb result last night, not just because of the result itself but the performance and backdrop. That was exactly the type of game we would usually lose. How often have we had a half-decent run, started to get a bit optimistic, only to have someone p1ss on our chips?
This is starting to shape-up as a very decent side:
- mean defence, keeping clean sheets;
- Grafting from front to back without the ball, difficult to break down;
- couple of players in Freeman and Eze who have real quality to create something;
- Wells should be one of the best strikers in the division;
- By all accounts, a good dressing room, no egos pulling in a different directions;
- Experienced manager, picking a settled side on merit.
If we can keep this momentum a little bit longer, and then show we can respond and recover quickly when we get a poor result, this could be a great season. | |

I think the clean sheets are helping us going forward as well.
Players not scared to try things, knowing that we are not in a complete panic if we lose the ball.
Only down last night for me, was the amount of times we gave up the ball cheaply.
Good tackle or interception or even trying a difficult pass is fine, but sometimes we simply gave the ball to Villa.
Its par for the course in this div - they knocked the ball into touch about half a dozen times.
If we can cut that out, then I agree its hard not to think this season could be a little better than most if us thought! | | | |
