Its been well documented the Pearce is a Rangers fan but I heard Bobby Gould on Quickly Kevin Podcast say how he signed SP from Wealdstone.

He was manager of Coventry at the time and needed a left back due to a series of injuries in that position.

According to Gould Terry Venables didnt fancy him and released him.

I got a chance to speak to Pearce a few years back just before the play off final. We both recalled being in tears as youngsters listening to Liverpool beat Wolves on the radio in 1976. Seemed like a nice bloke to me.

In his book he doesn't come across as much of a Rangers fan - went along, but that was it.
Also, he called his daughter Chelsea, so I think that proves he's about as much a Rangers fan as David Kidd fkn Jensen.

My Dad played against Pearce when Pearce was a teenager. Albeit Pearce was playing in goal for whatever team he was playing for.
