What with Don Revie spending all summer at No.1 with Walk Like An Egyptian and a unicorn from Otley winning the Grand National; By 'Eck! what a time it it was to be a Leeds fan the year they won the European Cup.

And as for Alan Smith's Ballon d'Or....

RFA

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

A mathematician writes - 'Using those 4 criteria must cover about half the 63 teams in the draw so not surprising one of your criteria is usually met!'

Subject to peer review!

assuming we are drawn at home, which of these wouldn't be a boring draw? ie not either a lower division or upper PL side?

I make it around 21 teams out of the 63, a very neat third. So a two-thirds chance of a shite draw.

1 Bolton Wanderers v Walsall or Sunderland
2 Millwall v Hull City
3 Gillingham v Cardiff City
4 Brentford v Oxford United
5 Sheffield Wednesday v Luton Town
6 Manchester United v Reading
7 Everton v Lincoln City
8 Tranmere Rovers or Southport v Tottenham Hotspur
9 Preston North End v Doncaster Rovers
10 Newcastle United v Blackburn Rovers
11 Chelsea v Nottingham Forest
12 Crystal Palace v Grimsby Town
13 Derby County v Southampton
14 Accrington Stanley v Ipswich Town
15 Bristol City v Huddersfield Town
16 Wrexham or Newport County v Leicester City
17 Fulham v Oldham Athletic
18 Shrewsbury Town v Stoke City
19 Solihull Moors or Blackpool v Arsenal
20 Manchester City v Rotherham United
21 AFC Bournemouth v Brighton & Hove Albion
22 West Ham United v Birmingham City
23 Woking v Watford
24 Burnley v Barnsley
25 Queens Park Rangers v Leeds United
26 Sheffield United v Barnet
27 Norwich City v Portsmouth
28 Fleetwood Town v AFC Wimbledon
29 West Bromwich Albion v Wigan Athletic
30 Middlesbrough v Peterborough United or Bradford City
31 Wolverhampton Wanderers v Liverpool
32 Aston Villa v Swansea City

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Not only do we always get a dull tie, we always get a dull tie against somebody we've just fcking played.

I reckon you can narrow our potential cup opponents to about half a dozen every third round day by asking

- are we in the same division, or have been recently
- have we played you a lot in the league in the last few years
- have we drawn you in the cup already recently
- Are we playing you already in December or January

Our cup draws since 2005 are

2005 - QPR 0-3 Forest
2006 - Blackburn 3-0 QPR
2007 - QPR 2-2 Luton / Luton 1-0 QPR
2008 - Chelsea 1-0 QPR
2009 - QPR 0-0 Burnley / Burnley 2-1 QPR
2010 - Sheff U 1-1 QPR / QPR 2-3 Sheff U
2011 - Blackburn 1-0 QPR
2012 - MK Dons 1-1 QPR / QPR 1-0 MK Dons
2012 - QPR 0-1 Cheslea
2013 - QPR 1-1 WBA / WBA 0-1 QPR
2013 - QPR 2-4 MK Dons
2014 - Everton 4-0 QPR
2015 - QPR 0-3 Sheff U
2016 - Forest 1-0 QPR
2017 - QPR 1-2 Blackburn
2018 - QPR 0-1 MK Dons
2019 - QPR v Leeds

So across 17 ties in 14 years we have played

Someone from our own league 10 times
Someone from the league above 4 times (twice away to Blackburn)
Someone from the league below 3 times (twice home to MK Dons)
We've played Blackburn 3 times, Sheff U twice, MK Dons twice, Chelsea twice, Forest twice.
The others are Luton, Burnley, Leeds, Everton, WBA
We haven't played someone more/less than one league away from us

In 14 years the only time we've ever had an interesting tie was away to Chelsea in 2008.

It's a remarkable list of complete and utter boredom

Problem with that is the club will lose money AND go out of the cup!

But playing somebody you've already played within a few weeks makes it especially boring and has happened to us with West Brom, Forest, Blackburn, Sheff Utd and now Leeds.
Only nine or ten sides out of 63 fall into that category and yet it seems to happen to us a lot.

It's a random draw, this is like shouting at parked cars, but it is a bit soul destroying.

Fulham and the scum also at home, will the time get changed even if we aren’t on tv?

Add Bees to that list (best team Oxford will have faced in the FACup this season) and the reasons for NOT playing Saturday are two fold (excluding being picked for a live game)
I) Plod wanting to split those 4 games up
II) BBC do that Stelling-lite thing where they move 10-12 (?) games to Sunday just so they can have a programme where Garth Crooks or Dublin or whoever can shout "goal" at Manish. Total blox!

I take solace in that there has to occur some sort of cosmic rebalancing in my lifetime whereby,

A) we go on a long, exciting cup run, possibly winning one of them
and
B) we’re due some absolutely cracking ties in the near future.

Surely this has to happen. I know every year is mutually exclusive but at some point the law of average takes over, does it not. Millwall, Wigan, Watford (twice), Sheff Utd (twice), to make but a few have all gone on exciting cup runs. It is not beyond the realms of possibility we can. This 3rd FA cup exit record has to improve at some point.

Haven’t we moved onto occasionally being knocked out in the 4th round nowadays, just to get hopes spiked before dashing them?

Sexy Asian dwarves wanted.

The entire FA Cup is soul destroying for a QPR fan.

I gave up an afternoon of snogging with an extremely attractive young lady to watch the 82 Cup Final and I think I probably lived to regret that. .

Since reaching the 82 final, we have lost in the third round (and first round) 26 times out of 36. I don't see any change in that appalling run.
