Lower league players 08:51 - Feb 17 with 2185 views | Gloucs_R | Do bargains still exist? Or are they a very rare find? I'm just trying to think of a few we've brought in over the last few years but I'm struggling. Austin, obviously, but he wasn't a bargain. [Post edited 17 Feb 2019 8:53]

Lower league players on 09:37 - Feb 17 with 2106 views | Tonto | Depending upon tour perspective, Luongo turned out well for the price... although we all know that wasn't the real price BOS has a chance to make it. But the old days when we picked up the likes of Darren peacock, Andy Tilson, Rufus Brevitt and so on seem to be rarer, but mainly because the Prem trams Hoover up all the teenage talent and loan it out, meaning there is less of it in the smaller teams

Lower league players on 09:59 - Feb 17 with 2072 views | themodfather | mackie comes to mind...but £4m on lloungo and gladwin is still poor business imo, there must be bargains and hungry players below the championship......BUT what about discarded youth players from clubs like ajax? a dutch trainer was telling me ajax release many players, free contracts all at a good standard, wanting to step up and hope to make it big, no harm in looking?
Lower league players on 10:06 - Feb 17 with 2061 views | MedwayR | Brentford seem to find them more often than we do but yeah I think they’re still out there, just have to look a bit harder than in the past. Also bearing in mind we’ve done well picking up the likes of Scowen & Freeman for peanuts.

If we are currently looking for deals from league 1 I'd consider Marcus Maddison at Peterborough, Patrick Bauer at Charlton and Tom Eaves at Gillingham. Maddison has the potential to be a good championship player and Bauer and Eaves could easily replace Lynch and Smith for possibly lower wages.

Wasn't Brentford's plan to get players from PL academies? 'They are focused on recruiting young players between 17 and 20 who have been released by academies in the Premier League, as well as talent from "undervalued markets" overseas.' Why Brentford ditched their academy in favour of developing PL outcasts https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/apr/05/brentford-ditched-their-academy

Lower league players on 15:34 - Feb 17 with 1690 views | WrightUp5hit___ | Cor, the scales have truly fallen from my eyes. The board, evil Les and Chris Ramsey have managed to sign Seny Dieng from Grasshoppers Eze from Millwall Ilias Chair from Lierse Noel Mcleod from Norwich Ben Wells from West Ham Joe Felix from Fulham Ali Omar from Stevenage Aiden Mesias from Charlton Chay Tilt from West Brom Faysal Bettache from Watford Mikkel Platt from Brentford Deshane Dalling from Huddersfield and that is notwithstanding our own, those that have arrived, been given a chance and rejected and the ranks of the U18's The first team purchasesof late have generally had a decent spin on end of contract players like Freeman albeit a few duff money ones. But if anyone thinks we are not looking in all sorts of places (Manning and Smyth) I think they need too look at the squads and the medium term view that seems to be utilised at the moment

Funnily enough, the exact players I was thinking of when I wrote this. As for the Austin comment... I thought he came from league 1?
