Wasn't a fan of Ska, but I do remember seeing some photos a couple of years ago that were either a modern day version of the Beat or him with another outfit and he looked in good shape. What the man fall victim to?

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Very sad. Hollis, Walker and now this. And way too young two of them.

Absolutely gutted. Favourite band when I was a kid and have never stopped listening to them and I'll be playing alot of their stuff over the next few days, for sure.

Thanks for the musical memories.

RIP Roger.

RIP Roger - very sad news indeed.

Saw The Beat twice - the first time a million years ago when they were supported by Linton Kwesi Johnson if my memory serves me correct (it probably doesn't) and recently at Glastonbury in 2017. They were still pretty lively that day - hopefully Junior can keep the show on the road.

1st album was a classic IMO, along with debuts from Specials, Dexys MR, Madness & UB40 (before became an covers band !) One of the 1st times I’d heard the ‘C U Next Tuesday’ word in a song on Two Swords (ignoring Rotten’s mis pronounciation of Country in Anarchy in the UK.
Saw the original band get the crowd buzzing for David Bowie on the serious moonlight tour. ‘82.

Sad that 2 versions of The Beat have diluted their legacy in recent times. But Roger was a good man by all accounts, introduced me to Toasting, Far too young to have to deal with all that sh!t.

RiP Sir.
