An absolutely roasting day, but just thankfully for the one day. The poor sods on the Continent have had temps in the mid forties all week. Good boozing weather though.....

Hit 43 degrees in Catalonia yesterday, wildfires aplenty too. Even here in Barcelona where its a bit cooler, yesterday and today have been hellish.

First day back at work today, on a late shift after two weeks off, the temperatures were higher than this in Rhodes last week but far less humid and a swimming pool at hand probably helped.

Well in North Devon at 145 pm it was 16 degrees, the maximum to day has been 17. It’s also been 100% grey clouds and often a mist has covered the tops of the tress.

Chilly!

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime. (Mark Twain) Find me on twitter @derbyhoop

I had to make a journey in of the hellish Boris buses today - it was baking hot inside.

There was a woman sat in front of me with a sleeping child in her arms, and the child was completely soaked in sweat. I wondered if she was a tourist who had been caught out, simply not expecting a bus to be operating in a major European city without air-conditioning.
