Here we go again with this nonsense about Sir Les. Have you forgotten about Eze, Chair, Bright and Manning?

Brentford use the same strategy as we’re now adopting but we’re a few years behind and it shows on the pitch.

Check out what they've spent as well, Because they are such a well run club over a number of years they are now reaping the rewards and have actually spent some decent money on players.

IF tranfermarkt.co.uk is accurtate Brentford spent at least 3mill per player on at least 6 different players. We can dream of that at the moment

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brentford/transferrekorde/verein/1148/saison_id/

QPR spent, well, errrr nothing on basically anybody

In the Greenford Gazette last week there was a story of a Brentford B team player being signed by Liverpool, no mention of a fee involved though.

They are a couple of years ahead of us in that they established and STUCK TO a footballing and management philosophy. Over half a dozen transfer windows they have developed their squad on the basis of a fixed identify and accordingly have managed to bring quality players that fit that identity very well.

QPR have turned to this ‘philosophy’ about six-nine months ago and had one transfer window to put what we have in place - which is actually exceptional, all things considered.

The problem is people asking this very question... I want what ‘they’ have and I want it immediately. This is why QPR has consistently changed its philosophy and ended up with nothing in particular - a beige club full of dead wood and debt, which Hoos, Les and Warbs are bavifaring away from.

Give Warburton another couple of transfer windows and hope we don’t go ape when we sell Eze and Manning which, perversely is the best thing we can do - in order to bring in six new players which will become just as good and before long we will be in that position.

QPR have not adopted the same philosophy as Brentford. QPR's model resembles Brentford's only in so much that we're now looking to buy low, develop players and sell high. However, we do not use statistical analysis to identify potential recruits and we're unlikely to as it was the key reason why Brentford dismissed Warburton. This raises question marks as to whether QPR will be able to continue the cycle by finding quality replacements for the likes of Eze, Chair and Manning when they inevitably move on.

We need to forge a footballing philosophy and stick to it, which we are doing (as long as we don’t sack the manager and swing off course!)

My point is that it is very difficult to recruit for a ‘beige’ identity... if you have a football identity and style, you can focus on players which meet that model and not just the next ‘shiny’ thing that you see. Also, our new passing philosophy makes our players ‘premier league ready’, so we can sell higher and then recruit better.

To be fair, warbs has unearthed some hidden gems already this year.

Brentford did not dismiss Warburton and that’s a fact.Warburton didn’t want to head up our owners philosophy so he left at the end of that season of his own accord .If you check back over past interviews he states this and says he doesn’t regret it.So I’d be careful when some of your fans say about copying our so called model.

We didn't literally "dismiss" him, but that was what in effect happened.

My understanding is that with the club being in with a very good chance of promotion to the Prem in 2014/15, come the January window, the owner, Mathew Benham, wanted to buy extra players to make the final push.

Warburton vetoed this, as his Manager's job spec entitled him to do, since he felt it would disrupt the harmony of his squad etc. But as it turned out, we "ran out of legs" by the time we got to the play-offs, where we stumbled and fell.

That summer, the owner redefined the Manager's job to become a Head Coach, meaning the HC still had a say in all transfers, but not the last word.

Had Warburton tried to resist, he could never have won, so realising the writing was on the wall he took the hint and "resigned".

It is safe to say that Benham was not greatly displeased by this parting of the ways.

I think Brentford being the bigger club than us with no debt and a new modern stadium being built is the benchmark for us and other Championship teams.
We are at least 5 years behind but Warburton isn’t the answer long term, he didn’t buy into the Brentford project and was asked to leave, he was chased out of Glasgow also.
He won’t set the team up any different plan b is to do plan a better he says..

Warburton's strength is that he's a very good Coach. His weakness is that he wants to be a very good Manager.

He might have got away with that 20, even 10 years ago, but the way the game is going, clubs at Championship level or above are now too big for any one man to combine what are essentially two different (if related) jobs.

On which point, I wonder how he gets on with Ferdinand?

This was also the strategy we adopted in the 1960s and which gave us Gerry, Mick Leach, Martyn Busby, Dave Clement, Ian Gillard, Rodney, Stan and others. It also saw us rise from the Third Division (today we call it League One) to become a competitive First Division (today's Premier League). There were setbacks along the way, but it did work.

They're obsessed with us. bless 'em.

As for us, we're a few years behind but on the right tracks. I prefer that our model seems to be more based on the academy and British/Irish players. I trust our scouting to continue to pick up players as it has done with Eze, BOS, Manning, Smyth, Masterson.

I'm generally in favour of opposing fans joining other boards 'in peace' ie not to gloat or make smug comments. Thus there can be mutual respect . That's sadly not my experience on a Brentford board run by Nick Bruzon who comes across as a complete ar5e . Maybe Peter Gilham's love child. A compliment to Clive that people can contribute on here e.g. Konk .
