John Prine 09:31 - Apr 8 with 2158 viewshubble

I'd never even heard of John Prine until this morning when I read his obituary in the Guardian. He was the favourite singer/songwriter of musical luminaries such as Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. He said this song was his favourite and it really is a beautiful song, and its theme is especially resonant right now....

Had the pleasure of seeing him live many times as he moved to Ireland in his later years, at least part-time.

He has a great album, Souvenirs, which is him re-covering his best stuff. It's sparse and beautiful and his voice is grainy and soulful. I'd recommend it.

This is him doing guest vocals on a fine 2020 album.

Poll: Player of the Year (so far)

Saw him play at Hammersmith Odeon about 20 years ago. Also on the bill Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle.
As you can imagine with a lineup like that it was a pretty fcking amazing gig.
This funny John Prine's was probably the highlight of the whole night.
