Redeveloping Loftus Road 15:53 - Jul 8 with 8461 viewsBAWHoops

I know, I know... this old chestnut again.

But is there no way whatsoever that we can't knock down the stands we have and rebuild them in some capacity to create a more modern and larger stadium?

We seem to want to move to a new location to build a 30k seater stadium, but isn't there something to be said for redeveloping LR to 20-25k instead?

I am aware you would have to dig down to lower the whole thing in order to increase the size

I guess with the land behind the School End they could have shifted the pitch further up towards Bloemfontein Rd and done a full rebuild. Side stands wouldn’t be any bigger capacity wise (lower even) but you could have larger stands behind both goals. I’d imagine you could get a 25,000-30,000 stadium on that footprint leaving room for car parking etc.

Anyway as Juzzie says all water under the bridge now.

Have we drawn up plans yet?

And sent them from our board to the club board?

I did a quick google search and found Calfordseaden have done a feasibility study on Michael Drain's redevelopment concept (which I've posted before on here). While the Michael Drain designs were done for the previous ownership (old club badge, etc.), Calfordseaden's site talks about a feasibility study done in summer 2019.

Whether that got to the board, who knows. But at the very least, the findings are interesting:

So for a 100mill we could have a 28k stadium and stay at loftus road?

Looks that way doesnt it?

Ticks quite a few boxes as well.
Although i'd like to see (even if its a rough computer design) the inside of the place, leg room, shoulder room, concourse and the general 'look' of it.

100m will keep us there, at our 'home' until we become champions of europe! ;-)

Looks nice, but I don't really see any extra seats, just more executive boxes.

True! I never spotted that.

I'm sorry, I just don't see it. Even with the most creative design in the universe, you can't get a quart into a pint pot.

Looking closely, the front offices have gone, perhaps to one end, or on top of the stand, this will free up the office space for more stand, and possibly more seating?

I suspect a structural engineer might have concerns about the magical floating tiers and stands.
I suspect a fire safety officer might have concerns about circulation space, the ability to evacuate in an emergency and general safety regulations.
I suspect neighbours might have concerns about loss of light.

I think these 'plans' are pie in the sky nonsense from architects, which is what they do best. It's not possible, move on.
