Dreadful injury by the looks of it. Really wish him well.

Never knowingly right.

What was the injury, do we think?

Achilles, apparently.

Think that might be that for Rangel, sadly, at least with us.

Think it's over for him, too.

I have a feeling he realized it immediately. The dejection on his face... seems like he knew it was a bad one.

Would love to see him here next year in some fashion. Think our guys really love playing for him, and I'm sure they'd listen if he was on the sidelines.

really sad but enduring image of him for me was laying on the sideline in agony knowing he is in trouble whilst watching and cheering the team on. Even in that moment he was more about the team than himself. Really top man and been a great player over the years. i hope it's not as serious as it sounds.

When you compare him agreeing to stay an extra month to Hall calling it a day he really doesn't deserve this

He is a model Pro, I really hope it isnt as bad as it looked.

if it's as bad as people say then I think he may well retire at his age

I hope the club gives him absolutely everything he needs and more regarding rehab and, if he wants it, a coaching role with a youth team

He'll retire anyway I reckon. That's why the club have now said anything about a contract.

We could do with a defensive coach 😁

Edit. Could be bad https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/very-upsetting-qpr-defender-rangel-suffers-w

Horrible injury for a young player to get let alone someone Rangels age. Was a really good signing after a really rocky start and a hammering at wba. Great pro

We said Achilles straight away. When it goes it's like an elastic band snapping, people say you can actually hear it, and it's like being shot in the back of the foot. You can see it happen on the replay, he sort of jumps up in the air like 'the fck was that?'.

That's terrible for him because that's his career done you would think. He's been a great signing for us, very valuable person to have around and help steer us through some difficult times.

Yes that's really sad if it ends that way. We will miss him. He has been 100% for us.

That's the measure of him. Great people make great players, they say.

Hopefully this isn't the end of his playing days but if so I hope he gets a good coaching gig should he want it. I think his family still live in Swansea so he would have to balance that long-term as well.

Wish him nothing but the best, but first a speedy and full recovery.

He'll be a good manager one day imo, I'd look to get him on the coaching staff if he does call it a day

Seems like a throughly decent bloke. Great shame if his career is done.

I hadn't started to watch at that point but very sad to hear.

Still showed great passion and intensity at this stage of his career (unlike a litany of others we've had) and did a lot to try to organise that back line when he played.

That fit he had against the Swansea player last year was one of my highlights of the season.

If his career is cut short by this despite being part of a fairly poor defence he is an excellent defender and perhaps the kind of character that Warburton should be adding to the backroom staff as a specialised defensive coach?

We don’t need a defensive coach do we?

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Bosh you keep harping on about this specialist defensive coach but no club has carved up the play like that since the offside rule was amended thirty years ago. Defence to attack back to defence is a single thing.

Set piece coaching, different story.

Yes he has been a model pro but why do people immediately want to sign ex players as coaches with little or no experience.

Gerry Francis is very good at coaching a defence and working on set pieces.
At his age he could probably do the job part time

Really like the guy, but given he's never held a coaching role before seems a tad risky non?

Would tend to agree in general but in Rangel's particular case it was watching his interviews that made me immediately think this is someone players would play for. You'd have thought he already was the manager if you didn't know better in fact. Plus he's been part of good footballing sides for most of his career so that's a logical (tho not watertight) assumption. No one's suggesting he skip his badges though.

Reads like he sees himself going back to Swansea although he doesn't get on with some of the big players there.
Still has a house (and family?) there.
