Sheff Utd in for Jon Swift at Reading at a bargain £3.5m.
Looks like a buyers' market...

Cyrus Christie is today's Nottingham Forest signing.

See you all same time tomorrow.

Beyond parody at this point - would be the fifth specialist RB on the books. Two 28 year olds (older than Christie), two highly rated in their early 20s, none injured. Carl Jenkinson signed for 2m and presumably handsomely paid given the ridiculous contract he left at Arsenal.

Only the four in CM so showing interest in Harry Arter next...

Meanwhile, 15m five-year deal Uncle Mendes snip Joao Carvalho now reportedly bomb squadded with Adomah (leading our fans a merry dance on social media lately) and Clough .

Speaking to my Forest mate last week there's basically half a dozen seriously big earners that don't make the bench because Lamouchi won't wear them, Carvalho obviously front and centre.

Wasn’t Hefele on our wish-list at that time. They probably only signed him to stop us getting him.

Yup, on his way to us. Think they just saw him going past on the M1 and thought 'why not'. Barely used him.

Is Zach Clough a wrong un? I can’t remember? If not, would he not be worth a punt given how out of favour he is? Would wages really be an issue if we’re offering him football? He used to be thought of very highly and from memory has a similar playing style to Wells which might fit Warbsball well.

Warbs signed him at Forest so you would think he would have moved for him again if he thought he could do a job for us

No, Warbs took over a month after he signed. Cost them 3m while inbetween managers with Gary Brazil caretaker, which about sums it up.

Strangest thing is there's been constant murmurs throughout (not from obvious club shill puppets like Paul Taylor mind) that Lamouchi is on thin ice. They have a technical director, operations manager, and head of international recruitment who all seem to have a say in the incomings. You look at Forest social media and no one seems to be asking just wtf is going on exactly.

I'm amazed he survived last season's (so doesn't feel like last season!) capitulation. Very unForest like.

The chat up there is if they get beaten again this weekend Lamouchi could be gone.

Did we when Fernandes and Co started flashing the cash that lead us to where we are today, instead of where Burnley and Leicester are?

Fans don't give a crap about finances until they go wrong; why would they if they are seeing an influx of "good" players?

Can we go out yet?
Poll: What would you take for Willock if a bid comes this month?

Fair point, although things aren't exactly not going wrong at Forest are they? For all the outlay they can't even make the play offs. Haven't won in 10 games now.

Yes true but it's not so much just the finances as the arbitrary squad building and ambiguity in who is even doing the building. They're buying Cesar & Green over and over and over again.

Christ...
Just looking at their squad - they already have England International Carl Jenkinson, Darikwa and the kid Gabriel who played against us for RBs. Which must be at least £40k p/w in wages?

Michael Hefele is without a squad number, still has a year to run on a contract and hasn't played a game for them since 2018! Emmanuel-Thomas-esque.

Still, sure they'll sign another CB if they lose on the weekend.

Enjoy!

Is Gaeten Bong still on the books? Signed in January 2020 from Brighton as a left back so likely on Prem wages. I doubt he'd sign a six month contract. He's also not got a squad number but they could be paying him.

Signed on the last day of the transfer window in January. Played once, a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton. Now "out of favour" and no squad number but still there.

A list of Forest’s staff numbers would be good. In their annual statements, they’re going to have to report full staff costs for all these players not listed in squads. You’d expect that number for last season and this season to be very big.

Also, it amused me how many of their “first team squad” had profile photos of them signing contracts! Just shows how many are new and how they are addicted to signings as a club.

To be fair, FFP wasn't in place when all this money was being splashed about by our owners in the same way Chelsea (then City) were doing. We had rich owners who could afford to do it and were prepared to do it. Why - at that time would - we feel overly concerned?

Now that Forest (and other clubs) have seen the punishments dished to us (and to a lesser extent others), then I'm sure if we were Forest fans, we'd be very concerned and asking a LOT of questions.

Another reason I can't stand Villa. They wasted so much money on strikers the season they bought him
