Lots of detail on what they want to do here

https://theathletic.com/1996223/2020/08/16/return-fans-coronavirus-project-resta

We seem to be in the difficult position of having a very small concourse.

I wonder if they will just pedestrianise South Africa Road from 1pm and fill it with concession stands and portaloos

Us and Luton in particular have all manner of issues. Not beyond the realms of possibility that we'll still be BCD when others are not.

I think they'll manage to get a few of us in, but maybe just in SAR and The Loft

what is the point of one way in and one way out in the stadium and toilets its just paying lip service to social distancing, disregarding what will happen in between

few issues they will have is if the Lower Loft will continue to be an away dressing room, if not there is plenty of room for portaloos. It should also be reasonably straight forward to shut South Africa road to traffic from 1-6 on a match day and have portaloos in the street and food an drink outside, maybe utilise the play football pitches and area around that for pre match.

i think though that like everything in these times it will be upto individuals to not act like arseholes for it to work. If they say you have to wear a mask then wear one don't moan about it, if they say you can't have a beer or a burger at the stadium then live with it because if we can get 3-4,000 into Loftus Road without any issues it won't be long before that opens up to 7-8,000 and then 14-15,000. The biggest problem authorities have with these plans are that they know a lot of people won't comply with what they are saying so they have to be overly cautious

World snooker at the crucible in Sheffield had 300 + in a 900 + capacity arena indoors over the weekend , didnt see any of the crowd wearing a mask at any point .
If that is deemed to be safe then with lots of rules in place Loftus Road should be a reasonably safe place by comparison with only 5.5 k in the stadium .

Spot on Dave - of course we still have to solve the big one - who gets in and what do they have to pay for the privilege - silence is deafening on that still!

Down here in Oz, we've had a 25% of seated capacity rule of up to a maximum of 10k fans. NRL clubs have been doing season ticket holders only in a ballot to decide who gets to go each week.

What they should do - let anybody who wants to go and watch the football go and watch the football.

problem is they have to manage number of people on trains, police recourse, number of people in pubs etc so just not possible at the moment

So many imponderables. How many ST holders did the club have last season? Presumably some of the older and at-risk fans will not renew as they may not feel safe, but how will the club select those that may attend. Presumably those that don't attend will have the streaming option.
Then of course, the fans who do not have STs. They are notwithstanding loyal fans but for many reasons aren't in a position to take out an ST. Financial reasons, work and family commitments, living far away from LR etc etc.

Good point...plus more stewards put in harm's way, more locals, shopkeepers and pedestrians as the larger crowds approach and leave the area, more locals, shopkeepers and work colleagues of the increased crowds once they return to their local areas and workplaces etc etc.

They really need to send out a survey,

Do you intend to attend, at what stage of restrictions being lifted? How do you travel? Would you accept a half attending/ half streaming ticket (priced to reflect this), are there any games you can't make? Will you accept your seat being moved? Will you want catering? Will you wear a mask?

Any others you can think of?

Fair enough Brian, but assuming Westfields is now open a lot of that applies already.

In terms of congestion, I would have thought only South Africa Road and the Lower Loft could be used. Neither are ideal, because of the tiny councourses, and if the Lower Loft is used as away team dressing rooms …

I don't see how you could have any kind of social distancing with the entrances to either the Upper Loft or the Ellerslie.

Except time is running short with no sign of anything from the club yet.

They haven't even announced streaming details for the pre season matches yet.

Upper Loft is easy enough to get to from the Lower Loft so that might work

But if the Lower Loft continues to be used as an away dressing room area, they won't want people traipsing through the Loftus Road entrance, and it's still — by comparison with most grounds — a very tight area with very few turnstiles. The SA Road entrances to the Upper Loft are surely unusable for any number more than a few dozen.

why were they using lower loft as away dressing room?

if it was for social distancing surely that no longer applies if they are prepared to let 5k supporters into the ground

Can't we just move the stands further away from each other?

QPR were using both home & away dressing rooms so they could comply with the 1 meter thing so away team went in lower loft bar, not sure if that is still a requirement

I know!

Cos pitches are allowed to be smaller as they get closer to the Earth's core.
