I had a tricky piece of homework for history and when I heard the club had a historian on the payroll I thought I‘d be quids in.

I wrote to Macey asking him to draw direct parallels between Britain’s devolving of foreign policy in the Far East through the East India Company and the US’ 1960s policy of military interventionism in South East Asia as a driver of economic growth.

Easy enough for a historian Ii thought. Err, no!
