Great nights out, not sure why it went away really.
Especially loved the fact that quite often the smaller clubs with players who most of the commentators had never heard of ie Dean Gorre for Barnsley turned out to be far superior to their better known opponents

Yeh, Tranmere used to do really well I recall. You're better off with a 36 year old Dean Gorre than a 63 year old Mark Lawrenson.

It faded away as no crowds turned up as the big names that did come went away after a while, and the newly retired players with names wanted big money and then Sky was not bothered anymore. Or in other words, it did not sell.
