A draw wouldn’t be a bad result, particularly given that the winner of our group will play the runner up of France, Germany and Portugal.

And it’s rare that the eventual winner starts strong. Better to build momentum as the tournament progresses.

Play well and we win the match......I hope the Manager gets it right first & foremost.

a group we should win, but I really hope we don't!
Just looked at the French squad, mind, and it's not as strong as I perhaps imagined

Tough one as a good start and win gets the morale going. But as been mentioned winning the group does us no favours and sides that win tournaments rarely start well. So I either want. 1-1 draw or blow them away Holland style 4-1 to prove we can beat top teams

We've never won the opening game at the Euros so ending that would be nice.

Think the heat will play a part against an ageing side, England have a strong bench who could win the game late.

Can see Grealish coming on around the hour mark and having an impact

2-1 England. A classic. One that will go down in history. Mostly because I am seeing my girlfriend this afternoon and she doesn't want to watch it.

Never knowingly right.

Who would be England’s main dead ball specialist for direct strikes on goal ?

In the last World Cup Kieran Trippier obliged.

Nat Lofthouse? Scored a lot of goals for England and he's definitely dead.

Trippier should be our starting right back so it should be him, if not then Grealish I guess?

Would guess England's main free kick taker will be the penalty taker as well so Sir Harry Kane surely

Just nipped down to Tesco to buy some Thatchers Gold. Bloody warm out there, wouldn't fancy putting in a shift in this heat, especially after the 4 pints of Stella last night.

Agree..it was interesting when questioned on the day of Ward-Prowse exclusion at the 26 man stage Southgate said he had enough specialists in the squad and Trippier was sat beside him if I remember correctly.

Just read, despite Shaw and Chilwell being fit, he may be our starting LB today

Typical , what is it about England managers with putting square pegs in round holes ?
You have two of the best left backs in European football but will stick a right back there , FFS
Also phillips in midfield is a disaster waiting to happen
1-2 to Croatia,

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Are you sure he doesn't have one more season in him? We could offer him a deal that transitions to a coaching position.

tbh, i don't think phillips is a disaster waiting to happen, he's just.............nothing really, at this level. For me, Mings is the potential calamity.
Chilwell has been very good recently, alas, shoe-in for me.

Is it possible he’s shoe horned him in just for set pieces?
