Apologies for hijacking your thread rob with Dean Stockwells passing. This scene had a huge impact on me.

Saw this on Twitter. Did GS have an inkling of The Doc's extra marital 'activity'?

ITV started doing a nìce little tribute thing during the England game tonight than weirdly turned it into a kick it out racism thing with Cyril Regis which I thought a bit unnecessary.

Exactly this Mrsheen. As a young lad, in the hayfields and bogs of county Sligo in the seventies, Sindstat was a vital link with the outside world. We (my father, two brothers and I) prised our one and only big lump of a radio, out of my mother's reluctant hands every Saturday afternoon, wrapped it in a plastic bag (the bogs and hayfields are damp in Sligo!) and allowed either himself or Parry (or often both) to transport us across the Irish sea to Old Trafford, Anfield and even occasionally Loftus Road. Great memories, great voice.

Thanks Myke. For me it was Bryon Butler and Peter Jones on a tiny transistor, keeping me going through midweek homework with Cup Winner’s Cup games in Moenchengladbach, or Third Replays from rainy Roker Park, while the rest of the family watched Rock Follies or Survivors downstairs. I wonder if kids listen to radio commentaries these days, other than as a captive audience strapped in the back of their cars?

Big fan of Mr sindstat. Unfussy commentator.
He let the action do the talking unlike the current ITV Man, Sam Matterface who has the masterminded the art of talking complete bollocks down to a fine art much like his predecessor, Clive Tyldesley!
Hugh johns was and still is my favourite commentator of all time with RTEs George Hamilton a close second.
I'm old that's why one or two will be wondering who Hugh johns is??

He did. He did every World Cup final for ITV up until 1978. He would also do other big England games such as the Poland 1973 qualifier that ITV screened as Brian Moore would be the host in the studio.
