Watching the Cameroon Burkina Faso game and it reminds me of how the World Cup used to be, you might know one or two players but the rest are a mystery. Some real good players on show you’ve never heard of plus proper fouls. Burkina Faso look decent. And Technicolor kits.

Looking forward to watching it - seeing Chair and Taarabt ripping it up for Morocco would be a great QPR moment, plus looks like Seny might get a game for Senegal. No idea who might win though

No need to show a replay of the contentious-looking 94th minute penalty award to settle the game!

Ha quite! Only once the game had ended.

Hit his elbow and defender not looking at the ball, but I suppose if the shot was on target?

Dieng chances of coming home early dealt a blow with an incredibly harsh late pen.... Some stones on the ref

Nailed on pen for me. Great diving save by the defender.

Didn't see enough from the replay but either way, it's harsh as Zim had grown into the game and did well to hold off a far superior team. Ref was solid all game though and booked him too so was obviously sure.

Good outing from Dieng.
Enjoyable game.

Defender was gesturing that he'd brought his arms in towards his body to make his body smaller, maybe he'd have been better off taking it in the chest. Either way when they cut to the VAR room they didn't actually seem to be taking a look at it. Maybe they only needed one look.

It wasn't really clear to me what they were doing in the VAR room. Other than maybe discussing what they'd had for lunch.

Yes didn't exactly restore a lot of faith in that system did it?

Today I Learned that Admiral Muskwe has only the joint fifth weirdest first name in the Zimbabwe squad, along with Prince Dube, but behind Teenage Hadebe, Knowledge Musona, Never Tigere and Godknows Murwira.

Just tuned in for this one. First game of the group between two strong favourites to go through maybe not much desire to go all out for the win on either side?

Tournaments where most of the third place teams go through really do kill the group stage altogether. Unless you're scotland it's actually more difficult not to qualify (sorry Karl that was cheap).

Yeah it's a nonsense, there was a stat going around about the Euros which had the same format - some absurdly high % of the total games to eliminate 33% of the teams. Good moneyspinner, though.

Chair not getting on here, Morocco with a likely winner inside the last ten min.
