Growing up loved his stuff, Pump it Up, I Don’t want to go to Chel*** and the greatest of all which he has now retired, Oliver’s Army. Could never understand his total change in musical direction at all.
He started with Big Tears, one of my top favourites - recorded version featuring SAR denizen Mick Jones, and the sound was awful. Oh shit! Sorted out by the end of the song tho... Phew..
On the news this week he’s requesting radio stations no longer play Oliver’s army, surely they could dub that word with figure which would still fit in.
favourite cheese mature Cheddar. FFS there is no such thing as the EPL
Satellite radio station here series xm (huge station and available in all cars) plays Oliver’s army with the original word. They also play rehumanize yourself by The Police with the word c**t in the lyrics. They call the station new wave and play Bananarana to the pistols. Has a real smashey and nicey vibe with no sense of irony. Sometimes I wonder if the djs are either asleep or not there.
His new album, "The Boy Named If" was released yesterday. He's returned to his early style and there are some great tracks on there.
One of my favourite artists, superb songwriter (Shipbuilding!) Love almost all of his albums up to & including When I was Cruel in 2002. Armed Forces, Imperial Bedroom, Punch The Clock, King Of America among his best. Although Mighty Like A Rose was a bit of a dogs dinner. Not enjoyed much of his stuff since 2002, very Americana, still some good tracks, here and there. Have to admire his longevity and willingness to do different stuff. ie. Writing with Paul McCartney, Burt Bacharach, Allain Tousaint, etc. Looking forward to hearing his new one if a return to form. Also produced Specials, Pogues, Squeeze…..
Not entirely sure, XTC, as good as they are/were, can compete.
If you cannot say something positive in life shut up.Life is hard without t****s like you
I agree with your statement except about QPRXTC, he's gone out of his way to show you that you don't take his posts too seriously. The timing of his posts and his admission of drinking says it all. I enjoy QPRXTC's posts for a few reasons, one of them being I don't believe there's any malice in them
I've had a few drinks but I think this poster deserves respect. This is not an attack to you because I understand when loyalties are concerned things change. If he'd replaced Elvis Costello with The Clash, if I'd have responded a far worse message

XTC is alright, and makes us laugh.
