Is everyone here mentally prepared for relegation ? 21:30 - Jul 19 with 22201 viewsLogman

I seriously cannot take another season of weekly/daily rants about the plight of the club and how we should be emulating Brentford/Luton/Bournemouth etc etc etc

We are not and not only is life too short to be spending every day looking over a shoulder at Luton/Brentford/Bournemouth etc etc but there is also f**k all that we can do about it as our investment in the club (both in terms of the depths of our pockets and colour of our blood, i.e. blue and white) is insignificant in the grand scale of things.

So are we going to be realistic on here and accept our fate or is it going to be another season of angst ?

Just asking so I can manage my expectations.

Cheers

Keep the faith, I believe we will be the surprise package this season, so yes angst but no relegation.

I say keep the faith.

We know that this season is going to be the toughest we have had in years, so we must get behind Ainsworth.

I actually think us being written off suits us more cause it would allow Ainsworth to play this us against them sort of mentality.

If we go down this season, then I'll be more accepting of it this time around.

Ready for it at the moment. The back 4 is unchanged and actually much weaker as it's Gubbins and Kakay in as first (fit) choice with Dykes and kids up front. The midfield is PSS poor and weaker without JoJo and Tim. Willock is hardly going to decide to start busting a gut for us now and Chair is off.

So that is a defence worse than the worst defence over the last 30 games last season and an attack that will score no more than 10 goals next season. Good luck to anyone who can pick positives out of that; I can't.

Going down last season might have avoided the pain we are about to experience for the next 10 months.

I hope I am wrong, I really do but there is no team in this league weaker than us right now.

Can we go out yet?

I suspect that
a) 1 or more of the youngsters that went to Austria is going to have to step up
B) one of the signings, not Begovic, needs to hit the ground running
c) we get in loanees that make a much bigger impact than last year's 5

If at least 2 out 3 come true we could finish as high as 16th
Otherwise we're scratching around to find 3 teams worse than us.

This season is about staying up. Anything else is a bonus.

Next season is about pushing upwards and competing for the play offs (if not making them) because we will have loads more wriggle room on FFP and several other clubs will be facing embargos and points deductions…

I too think it's pretty much hopeless barring a miracle in the next 16 days.
I can take relegation, I've experienced it a number of times.
A saving grace would be, given the EFL's tawdry deal with Sky, we would retain a lot more Saturday 3pm kickoffs if we dropped down.
If we stay up I would be reluctant to renew my ST and be told by a crap TV company when I can watch my team having paid upfront for it many months in advance.

With the squad the way it is we’re going to need far more than an ‘us against the world’, underdog mentality, imo. You might be able to pull it off in League One or Two, but not in this league, we’re not just a bit short, we’re miles off. I think this squad would struggle in League One.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the business we’ve done so far, but I had very, very low expectations. As it stands, we have about half a dozen to eight Championship standard players in the entire squad. A few injuries and we could be down to four or five. Given the fixtures at the start of the season, before the transfer window closes, I’m expecting us to be bottom by some distance. If we don’t make some more decent signings by the time the window shuts I expect us to stay bottom, playing dreadful football, and being routinely humiliated. If it plays out like that I will be totally p1ssed off, expected or not. Anything better than that and I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I hate relegation absolutely despise It nothing can prepare me for relegation nothing at all.

Qpr won't be relegated

Probably one of the favourites to go down but we at our best as underdogs and if we expected to do well, we do the opposite also.

I am never prepared for relegation as it would be an absolute disaster of epic proportions.

We currently still have Field Dykes Chair and Willock. Keep all of these and we will be fine.

You just have to make liberal use of the Ignore button. I've muted 8 or so of those accounts that just turn up and rant whenever we lose - you lose the odd bit of context in a thread but it's so dreary to read and grinds me down.

Am intellectually prepared for relegation as it feels evens at best as things stand, emotionally is a whole other thing. Only relegation I didn't mind was 2015 as was utterly fed up of our approach to the Prem.

But why are you assuming that you're being realistic by thinking we're going to be relegated.

Sorry but by starting this thread you're part of the problem.

If you need to think we're going down, then just do. Surely you don't need anyone to tell you we're going down in order to believe it. But if you do, I'm sure you'll have plenty of takers, most of which I've got on mute.

I'd personally much rather enjoy at least the first ten matches and see where we are then, but you do you.

I am wondering whether I'll end up with just me and Clive that I haven't actually muted...oh and Brian. <waves at Brian>

F*ck my actual dad, LFW forum. Even by my low expectations, picking us for the drop in July would be a bit much.

I get the feeling we'll have a good idea even as soon as, say, November but until then I'm ready to be cautiously optimistic that we'll win a few of our early games and not look like chumps right away.

If we lose our first four or five then that's a different story but for now there's hope.

I don’t know Clive personally, but from what I’ve ascertained on here, he has many qualities, but optimism and being upbeat aren’t two of them, 😂 no offence Clive

I’m always curious why people who use a message board feel the need to put posters on ‘ignore’, sort of defeats the object doesn’t it? I can understand posters disagreeing with others, but that’s just life isn’t it. Ignoring posts that are no more than that seems a bit extreme and unnecessary.

But GA and the club have succeeded haven't they? They know expectations at Rangers are always high and from the back end of last year we're now got a fan base who the majority of whom would be pleasantly surprised if we are not in the bottom 3 for most of the season.

The facts stare us in the face, though, don't they? We've replaced a talented keeper (average form of last season aside) with an ageing, timewasting, hoof merchant Chelsea reject who the kids salivate over because he played Premier League 20 years ago and #announceblah etc etc and then we've taken an occasionally useful Dickie and replaced him with....er.....um....

So unless Paul Smyth turns into the Second Coming, literally, and Armstrong becomes 50% as good as his agent thinks he is......we are in poo.

The ignore button is a Godsend.

Yes, I love it on here, and I genuinely come on here for debate and to be educated, but if someone is being mindlessly depressing and/or endlessly provocative then I'll happily hit ignore. Life's too short!

I am always prepared for relegation, it's in our DNA. This club has rarely been stable or sensible, we are not dreary and predictable. QPR is a rollercoaster with more than a few dodgy parts and botched repairs, so strap yourselves in, cross your fingers and enjoy the ride. It's why we go to the funfair.

Each to their own, I guess. I think we all probably have posters we don’t agree with or even don’t like. There’s one I find particularly condescending and, frankly, vile with his/her insinuations, but don’t have anyone on ignore because even that poster adds to the debates.
