New version for new season as Sheff Wed enter transfer embargo...

Old thread here...

Rest of the Championship thread by Hunterhoop 10 Aug 2024 11:07
Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?

For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?

Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.

Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Sadly think MC will be gone by Christmas as it appears a very toxic environment at that club currently. And they still dont know whether they will be deducted points which is ludicrous. At least Sheff Wed knew instantly

Also, we knew that Sheff Utd were in a false position

P.S: Sheff Utd for play offs. you read it here first

Unfortunately I think it could be curtains for Marti already. The Leicester fans were wanting him out even before this and 3-O down at home by halftime could be the final straw unless there’s a remarkable turnaround in the second half.

Had they not made the crass decision to sack Wilder, they would be there now. Yes, they lost in the play-off final but finished on 90 points and well clear of Sunderland.

Hardly compelling reasons to sack him, in my view.

We really aren’t going to see him back at LR in a few weeks now surely

I don't think Leicester fans will see him again after this. Gotta be sacked unless something dramatic happens second half.

Leicester playing like us last season and managing to look as slow as we did.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

lol for all our goalkeeping woes I would take a Nardi with one arm over Begovic

To be fair, his feet did at least leave the ground as he dived* to try and stop the goals.

*Admittedly each dive took place around about the time of each restart, but my point still stands.

Silly keeper in a silly league.

I've got the Power.

Most of the Leicester fans seem to understand the financial restrictions and the hopefully pending points deduction: they aren’t having his team selections, tactics (especially the pissing around at the back that we know and love) and substitutions.

That Marti Out thread will be about 300 odd pages by Sunday lunch and rivalling the Frankie one (which is in a false position due to data crunches and actually nearer 550 pages if truth be told).

Be a little bit gutted if Marti doesn't roll into W12 on 20 December as was hoping we could be part of his send off.
I don't mean that in a nasty way -- be good to beat him and then applaud him off.
Sort of......

Hull back in top 6 after Gelhardt winner in added time.
Leicester must be ready to sack Marti, despite the comeback.
Portsmouth could be in trouble, but Sheff United look set to climb.

So new manager just in time to play us... that's not ideal.

Yes not good for us today that Norwich had a new manager who should have won both home games. Had we played Norwich with the previous manager who lost all 7 home games we might not have lost. Just our luck the nabager changed shortly before our visit. I can just see Leicester getting a new man in just before we play them.

Sorry to bang on again about Coventry but once again they won every game in a 3 game week. You have to admire their consistency.

They are different gravy to the rest this season. Someone in the Prem will be after Lampard soon 😉

A squad equipped to deal with the slog and physical nature of the division who seem to be all operating at a mysterious level known in circles as “full fitness”.

It’s not rocket science

I cannot imagine their budget is a million miles away from ours.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see them dip at some stage.

I also think Southampton, Chef Utd, N’arich and Leicester will all finish above us this season.
Missed opportunities against teams out of form are costly and I still look below us with some concern

Er yeah you have to admire their good players doing better than everyone else...

Because they beat us. If we'd won that game we'd be level on points.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
