Worst places you have visited for an AWAY day fixture !! 14:09 - Oct 29 with 21713 viewsnumptydumpty

After visiting the not so delightful "SWANSEA" wondered about other hotels, pubs, towns that were just downright derelict and awful to visit... Don't get to too many away games these days, but crikey Swansea town and pubs had about as much appeal as climbing Kilimanjaro stark b*ll**k naked...

A place to visit for culture, class and style, it truly was not !!!

Appreciate the weather being dark, dank, windy, wet and not so mild didn't exactly add to the mix well, but crikey was pleased it is not my own personal abode...Working for the Swansea tourist board could well be a challenge, no doubt !!!

Any other delights and stories anyone has to offer of altermative similar waste zones, people have had the misfortune to frequent for an away day special ??

Sure there will be many contenders...

I reckon that was the game where our Manager Mick Harford got his Merc smashed up.

I've seen us lose at that old shithouse more times than I've seen us win, the win was about 50 Years ago and Rodney Marsh headed the winner right In front of the home end In the final minute where I was standing, I went bloody mental and was promptly chased out of the ground by the local boot boys, they never caught me, I legged to that housing estate behind the Albion pub.

Wah-Hey,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The Withdean - and Matty Rose scoring a screamer. Awful ground though.

Those temporary stands certainly weren't designed for the more portly gentleman.

Pretty sure that was the same game Danny Shittu came back after a cruciate and was hanging out of the portakabin they used as a dressing room roaring "I'M BACK! I'M BACK!" Utter loon.

Not been there since they went up (and hilariously down) but Luton on many, many levels. It had two saving graces: easy to get to and more importantly, away from and what I can only imagine the reaction it got from pundits and fans used to heated seats and insulated commentary boxes.

Selhurst Park was always a shìt day out for me. Stuck in that poxy uncovered corner and got pìssed on, mission getting there and back due to "maintenance" and we invariably played shìt.

I spent 9 months on a contract where I had to go to Chesterfield at least once a week but have never been to the ground. The only circumstances that would get me back there would be in the unlikely event we were in the Champions league final and UEFA went with the theme of "shìt Yorkshire towns with a shìt street market" and held it there.

Sounds good apart from the fact that chesterfield is in Derbyshire.

Luton, FA Cup 1988. They put a ban on away fans after the Millwall riot but the FA insisted they had to allow away fans for the cup, hence it was something of a novelty for them to have other fans to have a pop at. And have a pop they certainly did.

Not a fun evening on or off the pitch. Hated the place ever since

qpr fans came back to st pancras , where 100s of us where and told of many stabbings pre match, basically all piled onto the same train. after the bloody police herded us behind the dutchman pub and luton were lobbing bricks, police did nothing, i saw luton fans with ammonia bottles in a nearby subway . in the end we marched to station and fended em off.

There's always the hardy bunch at rotten northern mid-weekers, I always enjoy 'em. Only travelling from Liverpool for that one, so a local really.

The old Vetch was quite an eyesore, with a motley collection of stands.

Made the mistake of trolling to the Swansea game by supporters coach,no video as it was broken and no radio as the driver didn’t like music .well before we all had mobiles and iPods so a miserable trip Down the m4 it was , got to Swansea and the police blocked the main dual carriage way to all traffic , this was to allow us to go a tiny pub round the corner from the ground , police stood guard outside to stop the locals smashing the pub up ,the game obviously was a disaster , longest worst away trip I’ve ever had I’d say and never stepped foot on the supports club coaches again either

That was the one I referred to earlier in this thread. Extremely unpleasant night capped off by us losing to an own goal.

Was randomly trying to remember if we had ever been the away team at Loftus Road.

I remember Fulham playing their home games at our ground for a couple of seasons but we were league below then, am sure...

Despite being in Derbyshire we do have an S postcode here in Chesterfield, and Sheffield is our go to city for a night out rather than Derby.
Probably need to go as far south as Alfreton before you find a DE postcode. Lots of people know that so it’s not even interesting for the other thread.

Little known fact, it actually was in Yorkshire once. An old work colleague used to delight in letting everyone know.

Gillingham's away end was shocking when it was a terrace and even worse now it is a temporary stand. The town centre is f*cked and the majority of the populace are scumbags. Apologies to any Medway Rs on here who reside in the area, I of course exclude you from my sweeping generalisation statement above.

The whole of Lootown should be flattened.

Another vote for Gillingham. Terrible.

Luton obvs.
