Very disappointing so far for me.. Came with quite a big reputation but he looks miles off it.. turns like a canal boat and his passing is horrific.. puts his team mates in trouble nearly every game..

I have to agree, been saying it for a while. But then we were spoilt with Darling, my main concern is Burgess with the ball at his feet. Having said that he was ok last night.

Interesting. I know the "use-your-eyes" test is as relevant, but according to FotMob statistically he is our best player this season, followed by Cabango, Vigs then Galbreith.

He is an old-fashioned physical CB which works well in some situations and not so well in others. I quite like that he sometimes takes a more adventurous pass like he did last night - sometimes it doesn't pay off and he was inaccurate last night but I would rather players like him and Casey who try to probe through the middle sometimes, rather than the constant horse-shoe that Cabango and Key are experts at.

Sometimes statistically players looks good, put them into a new team situation an it is not so. I don't think Burgess is anywhere near as good as Darling was for us. It would be interesting to see the stats and data that prompted us to buy some players and the same stats and data since they signed for us. Obviously a player like Galbraith the data has improved, but for quite a few others it might not be the case.

I beg to differ
He had not cost us games single handedly
Our right back has cost us five points in recent games, once with a gaping goalmouth four yds out and last night being blown away like a ten yr old
And he’s a perma starter

Fans eh

Can't agree with this in any way shape or form. Darling has been found out big style this season

Can only comment on what we / I saw last season.

Burgess has limitations with the ball at his feet, That’s surely obvious ?

Well he is as you say so why expect him to play it pretty
Same with Cabango providing crosses

He’s a good pro who is obviously brasses off

He will score the winner tomorrow

Darling before the New Year was excellent. He was a dog with fleas after that as the contract saga dragged on. The Sheffield United game in particular seemed to damage his confidence. At fault for the goal, then a red card. Burgess has credit in the bank after Nottm Forest, so the jury is still out for me.

With his limitations, I wonder if our passing would improve with Stamenic playing in the back 3? Would allow us to move from a e at the back to 4 easily.

I hope he does.
I’m only suggesting I think his passing is suspect. And that has been evidenced by the player himself. It’s not a game he was playing at Ipswich, maybe he will grow into it like Harry did ?

He is very decent in the air, and needs to take more pot shots.
He can hit a ball.

Goals conceded would suggest he's not doing a bad job.
I would prefer a centre half who see's danger and clears his lines rather than play suicide football from the back if that is not his strength.
Of our new signings to date he's not as disappointing as most of the players we have stumped up cash for.

Think he’s been quality, huge upgrade on Darling.
Not his best game today with ball at his feet and looks better as part of a 2 but overall an excellent signing

Burgess and Cabango both need a safety net of someone with pace alongside them. Last season Darling did the covering for Tymon once Darling got his head around playing on the left side of defence, once Darling and Cabango were allowed to attack the ball one covered each other well and with four at the back Key and Tymon could chase forwards down, resulting for the most part in a relatively solid defence which wasn't caught colded by pace. through the middle.
Casey playing in the middle helped us play with three at the back, Samuel-Smith playing on the left of the three was not as effective today.hence reverting to four at the back.
We needed to change to the back four got back into the game but did we then pushed too many men forward to yet again get picked off because of our lack of pace in the centre and no cover as our fullback revert back to play as wingback in search of another goal and all the midfield also moving forward left us badly exposed for the second goal which we compounded to get picked off again a further twice..

The next game will be interesting without Cabango and Tymon, particularly if Sheehan is not in charge.

Casey for Cabango, Samuels-Smith for Tymon. Not sure who replaces Sheehan!

Casey and Samuel-Smith fill in no problem, Santos on the bench along with Parker.
I would not like to see Stamenic in our back four just as I didn't like Fulton dropping into defence at the start of games..
People seem to forget that midfielders need to drop deep if our defenders push forward , example like Ollie Cooper for Manning ,
We also must remember that if we are being stifled as we play out from the back when keeping our full backs wide then if one midfielder dropping back isn't enough then a second may be needed but the first needs to move rotate to create space, teams are doing this to us in the midfield as we get our numbers and pressing tactics wrong and it is pitiful to see lots of teams opening us up so easily.
