I've pretty much left the main platforms too (although have enjoyed Letterboxd, which this very site drew my attention to). And that's been a good decision for me here and now. But ultimately the genie's not going back in to the bottle. And I have to cling on to the belief that in an alternative timeline social media isn't as toxic as it is in the here and now - that it's current incarnation is contingent on various things that are not inevitable: concentration of wealth with tech-bro oligarchs; culture wars being used to divide and distract; failing political classes, hopeless and nihilistic populaces etc. All of these are far from inevitable imo, and big factors in online spaces being such hellscapes |  | | |

There is no 'far left' any more, it just doesn't exist in any meaningful number. Maybe in the 80s, but not now. This is why the new right calls the moderate centre-left, ie people who advocate for a mixed economy, welfare safety net, public healthcare and basic human rights, 'far left'.
There is, however, a very meaningful far right, which is why we have a resurgence of, among other things, open racism and violent mobs attempting to commit mass murder of asylum seekers. |  |
