He really is a nasty idiot.
Fortunately, media often forget his time with us.

Apparently he's got 2.4m people following him on X/twitter.

If there is to be a cull, I've got some ideas where we can start.

Guilty of causing gross offence.

Social Media is the beast that just cant be tamed. I often think the world world be a better place if it was all just shut down.

Even our MP's are on there slagging each other off daily.

Best decision I made in recent years, was coming off anti-social media.

Said it before and I'll say it again: Look at Musk ans Zuckerberg and ask yourself: Do I trust them and would I have a beer with them? If you can't answer yes to both parts, there's your answer about their products for me.

Lots of interesting stuff about Meta leaders Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg and Joel Kaplan in Sarah Wynn-Williams' very readable book Careless People.

She currently faces a $50,000 fine every time she breaches order banning her from criticising Meta.

But this case was quite absurd.

I've pretty much left the main platforms too (although have enjoyed Letterboxd, which this very site drew my attention to). And that's been a good decision for me here and now. But ultimately the genie's not going back in to the bottle. And I have to cling on to the belief that in an alternative timeline social media isn't as toxic as it is in the here and now - that it's current incarnation is contingent on various things that are not inevitable: concentration of wealth with tech-bro oligarchs; culture wars being used to divide and distract; failing political classes, hopeless and nihilistic populaces etc. All of these are far from inevitable imo, and big factors in online spaces being such hellscapes

The social media ways of the world are influencing world politics and with advancements in AI, you have no way of knowing what you are watching is real.

I just watch videos online where people f*rt in public in extremely gross and offensive ways. It's called high end intelligence social media. Extremely educational
though.

I would certainly imagine it's designed either consciously or not to promote extreme views of one kind or another. More dramatic more clicks. More clicks more revenue.

Got to laugh at the opposite to Far Right being “progressive” as opposed to Far Left.

I don't have any more time for the Far.Left than I do for Musk, Trump, Farage, Le pen and their ilk.
To me "progressive" covers everything from Centre left to One nation Tories (or centre Right, if you prefer).

I go along with that.
There used to be a chap in the Brook Green Hotel that stood in local elections.
I asked if he was left or right wing.
He said “I'm a politician, not a f*ckin' chicken”.
Left wing used to be against economic unfairness.
Now, it's a ragbag of unconnected issues.

Right wing used to be about grabbing as much money as possible and keeping in power by any means. Still is.

There is no 'far left' any more, it just doesn't exist in any meaningful number. Maybe in the 80s, but not now. This is why the new right calls the moderate centre-left, ie people who advocate for a mixed economy, welfare safety net, public healthcare and basic human rights, 'far left'.

There is, however, a very meaningful far right, which is why we have a resurgence of, among other things, open racism and violent mobs attempting to commit mass murder of asylum seekers.
