You are right, I wish I hadn't started this thread, it's just I'm so frustrated with what's become of the Beeb over the years.

Fair enough CC.. I dont' give the jolly green giant sweetcorn in a lump of motile shit served up in a silver service cloche about the BBC one way or another.

Like most of us on here , I have events going on in my life that are omnipresent in the 12 yards in front of my face 24/7 . Like the working mans club or the local pub I come on here for escapism from that asphalt jungle and slow motion riot of everyday hard life.

But No, We must all abase ourselves at the divine plump feet of the booming old testament gods of the leftist dojo politique on here. No matter the subject matter of the thread.

Its like being cornered by the pub Bore by the jukebox telling me for the 136th time that Mick Ronson played his guitar left handed on 'Sound and vision' or Tony levin glued drum sticks to his fingers for the bassline on 'Sledgehammer'

WE KNOW!

The thread was fine. No one could have predicted it would descend into a debate on Jeremy Corbyn.

I think it was entirely predictable, to be fair. It only took a few posts, and small wonder. It's impossible to discuss the BBC without discussing its politics. Once a great institution, it's been guilty of shocking behaviour against the left and now against the right.

I've been reading this thread, and both sides have had their point of view, and there's been some very interesting info posted as well.

Off on a tangent now, but nothing reveals intellectual laziness more than people triumphantly trotting out that "unelectable" line.

"This person is unelectable therefore you must not elect him. See, proof! Told you he was unelectable".

Oh I thought it was the electorate who cast votes at an election who made the decision that Corbyn was unelectable.
Pity you and a few others on here didn’t have a few million more mates to help him.

I still don't dare mention the Mother's Day card incident in 2000 when, after a session in The Crown in Romford on a Saturday, I forgot to buy a card from the corner shop on my drunken way home, which I'd promised myself I'd do when I passed it several hours earlier.

She didn't get anything for the car either, but I don't that is what provoked what happened the next morning.

Suffering since 1978.

The removal of Tim Davie bears all the hallmarks of another attempt to influence free speech, similar to the attempted but failed muting of Kneecap,

Daniel Lambert Manager of Kneecap (and CEO of Bohemians FC) said at the time, after the bands appearance at the Coachella Festival in the US, their Glastonbury equivalent apparently, that Trump and his financial backers were terrified by the US audience's response to Kneecap's set,

Subsequently after trawling through hundreds of hours of footage of years of their live performances, Trumps funders found something to charge them with, the aim being to ban them returning and performing in the US to an even wider audience.

Eerily, a Panorma programme, aired 12 months ago, without a single complaint, is reviewed by a BBC Board Director, an internal letter of concern is leaked to The Telegraph and coincidentally and immediately Trump and his funders are ready to sue the BBC / UK government for £1Bn in damages?

John Simpson and many other experienced broadcasters have alluded to the very obvious and real reasons for Tim Davie's removal.

Whether you like or loathe the BBC, this is a worrying time for democracy and free speech.

For services to television????

Best service she's given is her resignation.

hahahaha... i bought Jo Some wellington boots and a kettle for xmas in 2013. I am made to pay dearly for that transgression at indeterminate intervals of her choosing and without warning .

The only sign i do get is when a kettle breaks , (about every two years), and Her eyes cloud over like Sherlock Holmes in an Whitechapel opium den, and the spectre of xmas 2013 rises like Nosferatu from his crypt.

I Knew the crown well, they used to do loads of live bands back in the day and Calders on draft! mid 90's..

No bother,

I never did so-called conspiracy theories until Trump starting saying it out loud,

Saying who regularly walked into his White Office without invite, who weighed his campaign in for $200m dollars plus etc, etc,

In my line of work we all know there's no such thing as a free lunch, you weigh someone in and they owe you, that's life..........

You don't need to be a conspiracy theorist to think if someone's giving you $200m and they put a call in asking you to threaten to sue someone, you'll do it, especially if you threaten to sue someone or other most days of the week,

Unfortunately the UK is too weak to face Trump down and does whatever he tells them, hence the sacking of Tim Davie.

A day later on Rembrance Day, Trump is crowing that it was the USA who won WWI & WWII, what an insult, but none of our flag waving political parties or press dared rebuke him. Sad state of affairs, whatever your politics.

We got promoted that season. You should buy Jo some new boots and a kettle this Christmas if you call yourself a true R.

The Crown was a good pub and I had a great Boxing Day in there in 1996. QPR won too, which was nice.

You don’t think it’s another political thread that’s gone a little “off the rails”? It’s became basically about one group trying to goad another poster into responding so they can have a good argument about how right they are. We’ve had 1 if not 2 posts deleted on here for insulting from behind a keyboard (very brave) and the poppy thread went south with some fella trying to insult someone by calling them a white paedophile!

Well, tbf I clearly haven't paid enough attention as I missed the zionist puppet masters bit, and the removed posts. But what I have read seems pretty reasoned. I can't see how you can discuss it without it being political, or giving it a bit of historical and political context.

I don't think the BBC has changed that much. It was always Liberal rather than left leaning and middle class to its core. It's tried to dumb down and worked itself into knots trying to be impartial. I don't think the news or politics coverage matters matters anymore - most get info online and that tends to be at the extreme end of the spectrum. I do love the BBC though, the same way I love ageing relatives. I can't stand Netflix, the home page makes me feel ill, but I know I'm in the minority.
